I find it funny how people are upset with Metroid prime 4 having a jokey character.
Ive never seen the movies, but im sure the Alien movies (Metroids inspiration) has quips like this to help make the scary scenes more scary.

You know its is bad when they had a whole 3rd in universe set in the year (Edge of Eternities) and it means NOTHING to the story

This really depends on the person. I grew up with sonic since sonic 2, but was a kid and teen for sonic in the 2000s.
I love generations and mania, but with how little games we got in the 2010s and 2020s compared to the 2000s, so when the bad ones come out now, it hits way worse.

i'm sorry but 2000s Sonic for me is not when Sonic peaked and i'm kinda tired of this newer narrative surrounding it. i feel like much of why it's propped up so much as the "peak" of Sonic has to do with a mix of nostalgia and what it is in comparison to what followed it, and less what it is itself.

But its a Sonic game.
