UMC Pastor. Dad. Musician. Progressive.
I'm afraid humanity's industrial and technical development has out-paced our anthropological evolution since the Industrial Revolution. We aren't made to live like this.

It's almost like we created a system that presupposes the integrity of elected and appointed government officials and without that integrity they can do untold and lasting damage to the system itself and the people living in it. Almost.

You can stay at our house.
I'll take you camping.
I'll give you the ride.
I'll escort you to the appointment.
I'll walk you through the mob.
I'll stand between you and the Karen.
I'll stand in as dad, or uncle, or pastor, or anyone else who's let you down.
Radical neighborly support.

This is the moment. This is the "what would I do if..." moment. This is the "First, they came for the Jews, and I said nothing," moment. This is the "all it takes for evil to succeed is for good men to do nothing" moment. Stop theorizing. It's here.

Western Evangelicalism has no interest in dismantling the systems and structures of white supremacy, capitalism, heteronormativity, or patriarchy because it is built on those same systems. Jesus would tear it all down.

Hey. I'm Brad. I'm a progressive Christian person who happens to be a pastor for the United Methodist Church appointed in Kansas City, MO. This will mostly be thoughts on Jesus, the progressive Church, and Christian social justice.
