Tomorrow at Maplewood United Methodist Church is about remembering. Remembering baptism. Remembering our relationship with Kwasha School. Remembering who God is and who God calls us to be.
Remembering that in the midst of the struggle, God is with us.
See you in church.

Dear Preachers,

If you, like me, are feeling anxious about tomorrow's sermon, please know that you are not alone. The chaos is very loud right now, it does not need amplification. And yet even now, the Gospel demands to be proclaimed.

This season magnifies every emotion. Happiness, nostalgia, grief, wonder ... we seem to feel everything a little deeper this time of year. So allow yourself to feel what you feel; allow this season to do what it does.

I want to ask this about "affordability."

Do we all understand the difference between "inflation" and "prices?" Like do we all know that it's possible both for inflation to be coming down AND for prices to still be going up? Do you think we all get that?

Isn't it so funny that you can tell which political party someone is in by their answer to the question, "Is inflation going up or coming down?"

This.
Chris Murphy: "There will be pretty substantial damage to a Dem brand that has been rehabilitated if on the heels of an election in which the people told us to keep fighting, we immediately stop... if we surrender without having gotten anything, I worry it'll be hard to get them back up off the mat"

I'm going to uphold my baptismal vows, which call me to "resist evil, injustice, and oppression in whatever forms they present themselves."

Why are you going?

The early church did four simple things. And clearly that simplicity was appealing, since God was adding to their numbers every single day. There was an appealing simplicity in the life of the very first church, and it may be something the modern church can reclaim.
