This is the cruelty of abortion bans on full display. This is not “pro-woman,” “pro-life,” or “pro-family,” this is inhumanity.

Adriana Smith, we fight for you.

A huge step in the right direction in Wyoming today, affirming Wyomingites' right to abortion!

While this is great news, we must continue to fight to ensure that everybody in Wyoming has access to care & never has to worry about their freedom being stripped in the future.

In 2026, I remain committed to defending our democracy and standing up for Denverites’ shared values.

That means protecting the vulnerable, resisting RFK Jr.'s relentless attacks against science, and defending reproductive freedom.

That’s what I’m fighting for this year.

Across the nation, families are gathering in joy and safety, thanks to those who fought for our freedom.

What did veterans get as a holiday gift from the President? A targeted, dangerous abortion ban, issued quietly overnight. It's unconscionable. This entire administration should be ashamed.
Trump's VA just banned abortion care for veterans—even in cases of rape, incest, or threats to health.

This is cruel, and dangerous.

An abortion ban by any other name is still an abortion ban. You deserve to choose the coverage that is best for you and your family without politicians dictating your options.

We say NO to skyrocketing premiums. We say NO to a Marketplace abortion ban. And we say NO to HR 6703.
December 17, 2025 at 8:17 PM
It is unconscionable that the GOP would yet again threaten tax credits that millions of their constituents rely on to push an abortion coverage ban nobody wants.
December 17, 2025 at 8:17 PM
It would also be an unprecedented interference in the private insurance market — one that would force insurers to stop covering abortion care at all, even coverage you pay for with your own money, and establish a de facto national ban on abortion coverage in ACA market plans.
December 17, 2025 at 8:17 PM
Bottom line: HR 6703 is a bill of recycled proposals, which are the same failed ideas from over a decade of GOP attempts to “repeal and replace” the ACA and add backdoor abortion coverage bans to the Marketplace.
December 17, 2025 at 8:17 PM
It also DOES add anti-abortion language eerily similar to its flu-like predecessors. The language is linked to those CSR payments and would bar payments for any Marketplace plans that offer abortion coverage.

Again, even coverage you pay for WITH YOUR OWN MONEY.
December 17, 2025 at 8:17 PM
So what is happening on the Floor today?

The GOP's latest 11th hour idea is HR 6703, a bill that does NOT extend the tax credits. It DOES change cost-sharing reduction (CSR) payments which, coupled with the loss of the tax credits, stands to increase premiums for millions.
December 17, 2025 at 8:17 PM
Thus, the proposal to ban people who use ACA tax credits from choosing a plan that includes abortion coverage keeps recurring like a seasonal flu.

That is, if the flu also forced insurers to stop covering abortion and banned you from using YOUR OWN MONEY to buy that coverage.

When the ACA was being negotiated, and when Republicans attempted to repeal it in 2017, one of the go-to tactics to justify taking health care away from people was the anti-abortion lobby's claim that there was a loophole to funnel federal funds to abortion. TL;DR: there is not.
December 17, 2025 at 8:17 PM
In recent weeks, as the expiration date gets closer and closer, the anti-abortion lobby and Senate Republicans have been hijacking negotiations over the future of the tax credits with their push to add restrictions on abortion coverage.

This is not a new playbook.
December 17, 2025 at 8:17 PM
To be clear what that means: If Congress doesn't extend the tax credits, premiums will skyrocket on January 1.

Premium tax credits help 20 million+ Americans afford their health coverage. If the credits expire, their premiums will increase by an average of over $1,000/person.
December 17, 2025 at 8:17 PM
Fast forward to 2021, premium costs were soaring during the pandemic. Democrats enacted the American Rescue Plan, which boosted the amount of the premium tax credits and expanded eligibility.

Those enhanced credits are set to expire in a matter of days, at the end of 2025.
December 17, 2025 at 8:17 PM
All abortion coverage provided under Marketplace plans has always been 100% paid for by private or state funds — not federal dollars — because of the ACA requirements.

Claims to the contrary by Congressional Republicans or anti-abortion groups have always had 0 basis in reality.
December 17, 2025 at 8:17 PM
A quick reminder: since 2010, the ACA has also required all insurance plans that cover abortion to (1) charge an out-of-pocket premium to pay for that coverage and (2) segregate those payments into a separate account.
December 17, 2025 at 8:17 PM
Back in 2010, the Affordable Care Act (ACA), aka 'Obamacare,' was signed into law. Part of that plan included refundable tax credits to help eligible individuals and families cover their health insurance premiums.
December 17, 2025 at 8:17 PM
ICYMI, the House GOP has been working overtime — not to extend the expiring tax credits that help millions of people afford their premiums — but to sneak a nationwide abortion coverage ban into the health care marketplace. It's back on the House floor today.

Let's talk about it. 🧵

If Republicans don't extend ACA subsidies, people are going to die. Now, they’re trying to tie Americans' health care to abortion restrictions that kill women.

It’s absolutely a non-starter. We won’t allow Republicans to use the lives of women as the political cost of extension.

Nothing could be truer to our American values than giving those who fight for our freedom the freedom to build their families on their terms.

This is on POTUS and Speaker Johnson.
NEW @ms.now: Everyone from Dems, to R's, to advocates for military families are livid the Speaker tanked a provision to mandate insurance coverage for IVF for service members + their families in the must-pass defense bill.

When basic health care is criminalized, people do not suddenly stop needing it. It just becomes more dangerous for them to access.

Republicans' extreme abortion bans across the country have not stopped people needing care, just forced women to find another way.
The percentage of medication abortions arranged via telehealth grew again in the first half of 2025, according to a report, despite Republican efforts to keep doctors in blue states from prescribing pills to women in states where abortion is illegal.
More women accessing abortion pills online despite red state efforts
The report found that more than a quarter of abortions in the first half of 2025 were provided via telehealth, continuing the trend toward medication abortion over other methods .

Your freedom to spend your own hard-earned money on the insurance plan of your choice is a red line, and you deserve the best coverage for you and your family.

RFC stands with @HouseDemocrats in calling for action on the expiring tax credits.

We say HELL NO to any GOP attempts at hijacking negotiations with an insurance marketplace abortion coverage ban.
The ACA tax credits expire on December 31st.

There is still time to extend these life-saving tax credits that help tens of millions of Americans afford health care.

House Republicans: do the right thing and work with Democrats to save health care.

Tierra Walker should still be here today.

Another mother has been taken from her child and loved ones due to Texas's dangerous abortion bans. GOP restrictions have no place in hospital rooms; only health care providers do.

Our fight for these mothers is far from over.
NEW: ProPublica has found multiple cases of women with underlying health conditions who died when they couldn’t access abortions.

Tierra Walker, a 37-year-old mother, was told by doctors there was no emergency before preeclampsia killed her.
