Proudly Representing Maryland’s 7th Congressional District. Member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Oversight and Government Reform Committee, and Congressional Black Caucus.
Two months ago, I met with almost a dozen of Jeffrey Epstein's victims & I signed a discharge petition with over 200 Members of Congress calling for the full release of the Epstein files.
Congress Approves Bill to Release Epstein Files After Monthslong Fight
The Senate quickly approved the measure after a 427-1 vote in the House. President Trump had said he would sign the bill despite his longstanding objections.

Tonight I voted against the Republican bill to deny health care subsidies to 20 million Americans. I will not vote for a bill that fails to lower health care costs and does nothing to make groceries and electric bills more affordable for working families.

Any agreement to go forward without addressing skyrocketing health care premiums and the high cost of groceries and home electricity is no deal at all. Where is Monty Hall when we need him?

I extend my sincere condolences to the loved ones of Mr. Herbert Brown. For more than 101 years, Herbert lived an exceptional life; he served in WW2, owned Maryland's 1st Black-owned full-service travel agency, and was one of Baltimore's political "Godfathers." May he rest in peace. #Baltimore #RIP

Once again the Courts have ruled against Donald Trump and his MAGA administration. Millions of hungry Americans will not be forced to go without food and their #SNAP benefits.
Federal judge orders Trump administration to pay SNAP benefits out of contingency fund
The ruling came one day before funding for SNAP, more commonly known as food stamps, was set to lapse.

Kudos to Buzz Grambo for his service to our nation and for his unselfish dedication to working in his community as a modern day Paul Revere, calling out danger where he sees it.

Information on the websites of federal agencies or sent via email should be neutral and factual. I have introduced an official Resolution of Inquiry demanding answers as to why false, partisan messages are being posted on agency websites.

This newly announced pause of preapproved funding for the Army Corps of Engineers projects in blue cities - including Baltimore - is another example of the Trump Administration placing partisan politics over the welfare of the American people.

Kudos to the @baltimorepolice.bsky.social, Commissioner Worley, and his great set of detectives for arresting suspects in a string of 21 murders and shootings. Working along side community and other law enforcement partners, our neighborhoods are becoming safer!

Congratulations to all involved in succeeding to broker the ceasefire agreement and the return of the remaining hostages. As a senior member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee we will work with all parties involved to build a lasting peace, both in Israel & in Gaza.

It's a shame that, over a week into this MAGA shutdown, we are standing here at BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) in protest because Speaker Mike Johnson refuses to allow the House of Representatives to meet to do the people’s work.

With full control of the House, the Senate, and the White House, this shutdown falls solely on the shoulders of Trump and MAGA Republicans, who refuse to protect Americans' health care.

Thousands of hard-working federal employees in Maryland's 7th Congressional District woke up this morning to learn whether they were furloughed or required to work without pay. This shutdown was entirely avoidable.

House Republicans didn't show up to work today. Their absence makes it clear that they would rather shut down the government than address the health care crisis they have inflicted on our communities. #CancelTheCuts #LowerTheCosts #SaveHealthcare

With government funding set to expire tonight at midnight, Democrats are on Capitol Hill and still ready to reach a bipartisan agreement that keeps the government open and lowers the costs for healthcare.
