This #NationalPovertyAwarenessMonth, I want to remind my colleagues that, in the wealthiest country in the world, we DO have the means and the obligation to fight to establish a floor beneath which no person, no family, no child can fall.

I voted NO on the DHS funding bill.
ICE made meeting arbitrary quotas & filling detention hall beds its priorities over the safety and civil rights of law-abiding residents.
Until real reforms are made that respect the safety & security of our communities, I cannot vote to provide further funding.

ICE took two Princeton residents into custody, including a father of 4 after dropping off his son at school. The failed practices of ICE have led not to community safety but to the breaking up of families. The pretense that their mission is to deport dangerous criminals has been shown to be a lie.

I’m forever inspired by Gabby’s courageous tenacity— from her return to Congress just months after the attack to the 15 years of advocacy that ensued to prevent the loss of more lives to senseless gun violence. It’s an honor to be in this fight with her.
