Delivering common-sense, common-ground solutions for Maryland’s 6th District in Congress. Official account.
Despite this Administration’s efforts to fracture a strong U.S. presence at COP30 in Brazil this week, the House Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition members are reaffirming our commitment to sustainability from Washington.

The fight to do right by our working families is far from over. My statement on my vote against the continuing resolution:
November 13, 2025 at 1:38 AM
Politics should never come before working families and their health care. This shutdown deal fails millions of Americans — we must stand strong in the House.
November 12, 2025 at 11:21 PM
After over 50 days of waiting, thrilled to see Rep. Grijalva join the 119th Congress! Finally, the people of Arizona’s 7th District have their rightful voice in our democracy, and I loved welcoming her with the @demwomencaucus.bsky.social to our freshman class!

From food banks to health care centers, it has been my priority to hear directly from our communities to reopen our government the right way. What I heard? Americans can’t afford this CR. The stakes are too high to cave.
November 12, 2025 at 9:44 PM
On the steps of the Capitol, we affirmed: the Senate shutdown deal is unacceptable for the millions of Americans who are already seeing their health care premiums skyrocket for 2026. @housedemocrats.bsky.social are standing strong for every family who can’t afford this CR.
November 12, 2025 at 7:52 PM
Keeping health care affordable isn’t about partisanship — it’s basic human dignity. If my GOP colleagues bothered to show up over the past 6 weeks, they’d see that their vote on this CR will go far beyond a tally or press release:

Francis Scott Key Post 11’s annual Veteran’s Day ceremony is a remarkable demonstration of community, heart, and sacrifice — values embodied by our heroic service members and their families.
November 11, 2025 at 8:57 PM
This morning, I joined the Joint Veterans Council of Washington County for a wreath laying ceremony — a touching embodiment of the eternity, remembrance, and honor we feel towards the men and women who put their lives on the line for our country.
November 11, 2025 at 6:46 PM
On Veterans Day, we are filled with gratitude, heart, and remembrance for all who stepped up to serve. I’m proud to fight for our heroic service members today and every day.

After the longest gov't shutdown in U.S. history—and one where my GOP colleagues have not even bothered to show up for work over the past 6 weeks—I find the stakes too high to cave on a budget which will make Americans’ lives harder and less affordable. My full statement against this shutdown deal.

I was thrilled to join Councilmember Laurie-Anne Sayles for a Farm-to-Table symposium in Germantown. Montgomery County’s food economy is foundational to our communities’ prosperity — thanks to local leaders who make it all happen, especially Delegate Lily Qi, who I had the pleasure of introducing.
November 10, 2025 at 7:27 PM
I was proud to speak at the Brunswick Veterans Day Parade, honoring the heroic service members who have sacrificed so much in defense of our country. The dedication of them and their families remains a cornerstone in our nation’s values — I am proud to stand up for them today and everyday.

I am in complete alignment with Senator Van Hollen. The politicization and weaponization of food security by this Administration is reprehensible and beyond cruel. Starving people into submission is what dictators do... and is UN-American! Put Americans first and don't let our children go hungry.
Trump is still using hunger as a political weapon while also refusing to address skyrocketing health care costs — and seems to be enjoying it. It’s the definition of sadism. A truly twisted man.

42 million Americans who rely on SNAP — including 1 in 9 families in Maryland’s 6th — have faced incredible uncertainty at the hands of this Administration, left without funds to feed their families. I was proud to sign on to the Keep SNAP and WIC Funded Act of 2025 to keep politics out of pantries.
As 42 million Americans who rely on SNAP go another day without November benefits, I am leading the introduction of the Keep SNAP & WIC Funded Act of 2025 to stop the Trump Administration from illegally withholding available funds.

Threatening our academic institutions for exercising free speech and academic freedom is a dangerous, totalitarian act that endangers democracy itself.

As the first woman Speaker of the House and a fearless advocate for San Francisco, Speaker Emerita Pelosi’s legislative impact and dedication to our country has been unprecedented and inspirational. She will be deeply missed next Congress.

This morning I was proud to host a County Convening in Frederick, attended by over 50 community leaders, nonprofit advocates, and local stakeholders.

Yesterday I was pleased to join State Senator Karen Lewis Young, Delegate Ken Kerr, Maryland Department of Health Secretary Meena Seshamani, and other leaders for a tour of Frederick Health Hospital — one of 25 locations in Frederick Health’s network.

For over 680,000 Marylanders, SNAP benefits make the difference between feeding their families and going to bed hungry. They don’t have time for this Administration’s political games: they needed answers last week.
November 5, 2025 at 6:16 PM
Team Maryland is standing up for SNAP — it’s past time the U.S. Department of Agriculture and this Administration follow suit. Read the letter, led by @vanhollen.senate.gov, @alsobrooks.senate.gov and I, from the Maryland Delegation on my website.

Today is Election Day! Be sure to know your rights, do your civic duty, and get out the vote before 8pm today. I cannot stress the importance of state and local elections enough — Maryland, it's time to make your voice heard.

As public servants, it’s our job to deliver and stop American families from going hungry, not to treat them as political leverage.
