I'm deeply embarrassed that IT WAS JUST AN ACCIDENT is my first Jafar Panahi film because it is the boldest movie I've seen this year. A sublime thriller about the moral quandaries of Iran's oppressed — made guerilla-styled, son!

'Predator: Badlands' Review: Thrilling and Violent Predator Entry Finds Evolution in Humanizing Tale
'Predator: Badlands' is a decent Predator installment that pushes the series in a sharp direction, though it suffers as Trachtenberg’s ambitions seem constrained by studio conventions.

Sydney Sweeney tries so hard to punch through CHRISTY’s overwhelming conventionality and she just can’t do it.

(Watch the Untold: Deal with the Devil doc on Netflix instead. It’s the biopic’s blueprint fr)

My review: www.rendyreviews.com/movie-review...
‘Christy’ Review: Sydney Sweeney’s Mighty Punch Can’t Save This Generic, Oscar-Baity Sports Biopic
Sweeney, Foster, and Wever all do great work in ‘Christy’, but its lengthy and bland storytelling fails to give the source figure the powerful punch her story deserves.

Having such a bad case of New Yorker main character syndrome. Had to catch myself from questioning all my friends from other states posting their 'I Voted' stickers, "Wait, how do you get to vote for Zohran too? You don't live here."
November 5, 2025 at 12:02 AM
After growing up with bitch mayors who used fear-mongering as a means to turn NYC into a prison, especially in marginalized, working-class communities, it’s exciting to, by today, have a mayor who cares about his people and not exploiting us for his pockets. Let’s go Zohran.

QUEENS OF THE DEAD is the most campy and queer horror fun you'll have in a theater this Halloween.

For @autostraddle.bsky.social, I chatted with director Tina Romero about her DJ-to-director debut experience, drag names, and faux Bushwick culture. Go see it!

Guillermo del Toro’s FRANKENSTEIN captures the queer virtue of belonging, which no iteration has done before. For @autostraddle.bsky.social, I discussed the queer resilience subtext via the creature’s tale, generational trauma, and familial acceptance.

CHAINSAW MAN — THE MOVIE: REZE ARC is strictly for the fans — but a nice entry point for newcomers. Nevertheless, Denji's leap to the big screen explodes with romantic, complex poignancy, and beautifully animated bloody violence.

If there was a bar for frustrating postmodern apolitical American apocalyptic stories, A HOUSE OF DYNAMITE just arrived and sat right next to Alex Garland’s CIVIL WAR. #FilmSky

Love being validated by critic peers that bad Colleen Hoover books are also bad movie adaptations. She truly is our new Nicholas Sparks.

Not seeing much chatter about this week was a gut punch to marginalized voices in media journalism got me feeling crazy. The purging of NBC verticals, VIBES merging with RS and Black reporters getting laid off, corporate restructurings leaving freelancers like me in the dust. Support indie outlets.

AFTER THE HUNT went nationwide today......ICYMI, I despised it.

Good cast, bad direction, obnoxious screenplay that would've been prime for 2019. Acts like it's new to the "dark-sidedness of MeToo" conversation in 2025 while being Diet TÁR.
