Solidarity - amazing pickets 👏

Important fights @ucunorthumbria.bsky.social & by UCU Southampton Solent.

If management are successful at taking these workers out of TPS, management will try it elsewhere. UCU needs to do it all it can to back up these beanches. Please show your solidarity!
We are on strike because we don't accept the "choice" between a pay freeze (& being taken out of national bargaining) & being forced out of the teachers' pension scheme.

Your level of consistently pushing back, and winning, is an inspiration to the rest of UCU

Solidarity in this latest phase!
The current situation at the University of Dundee is that we are not getting our annual pay increase and that promotion processes are paused.

At the same time the uni is refusing to rule out compulsory redundancies, it is advertising over 20 new senior management jobs for academic staff.

Wow! Congratulations to the Birmingham Bin strikers - that's demonstrating collective power.

Very pleased we invited one of your strikers to UCU Congress last year. Hopefully, at this year's Congress, we will be talking about your victory 👍

Solidarity!
🚨 BREAKING: Birmingham bins strikers vote 100% to keep striking right through the summer.
That will be another summer of chaos for workers & residents & a whole year of @bhamcitycouncil.bsky.social failing to even negotiate. The bin workers and people of Birmingham deserve better!

Good community demonstration today, opposing the far right.

49 years ago - the 'Battle of Wood Green' saw anti-fascists beat back the National Front. We need to stop the rise of racism and fascism again.

Next stop - 28th March Together Alliance demo!

We need leaders who consistently pushback. During negotiations, negotiators may have sharpest arguments but if there isn't an active branch behind them - those arguments will be disregarded. The only way you have an active branch is by reps listening to members. www.reginepilling.com/updates/from...

Great to have endorsements from my branch - Alyson & Carly have taught me so much, as the previous branch sec's at my college.

A branch sec is nothing without an active membership - management will never listen to your wise words in negotiations, without knowing you have members behind you.

And we leafleted every desk, and put posters up everywhere.

Really good response from colleagues - we need some light in these dark tines.

We are not outnumbered, we're out organised (as Malcolm X said) - so let's get organised!

UCU CCC members are prepped for the Together demo on the 28th.

Reform UK and their fascist mates are a threat to our communities, to education, and to everything we hold dear. They must be stopped.

We can and need a bigger anti-racist movement. Love, hope and unity ❤️

Prison Education is essential. Literacy rates are markedly lower amongst prisoners. To stop the cycle of crime - they need skills and the possibility of a better future.

Core education in prisons across England will reduce by up to 25%.

In UCU we need a strategy to reverse this.
Due to a focus on reading by the prison inspectorate and Ofsted, progress is being made on literacy in prisons. But new education contracts have now cut education provision across the board

Solidarity to all @ucuessex.bsky.social this is sadly, another shocking attack on HE. We need a national strategy to defend a diverse and accessible HE.

We had yet more shocking news this morning - stay tuned.
