the whole point of having any sort of insurance system, whether private sector driven or public, is so individual consumers trying to navigate preventative care or chronic conditions or medical emergencies *aren’t* on their own buying every service à la carte out of pocket.
Cassidy: "The president is proposing that we take the $26b that would be going to insurance companies if we just do an extension and give it directly to the American people in which 100% of the money is used for them to purchase healthcare on their own terms. That makes them an informed consumer."

One of my earliest moments of radicalization was in 2005 when Larry Summers said that women biologically have less aptitude for science than men. Following that, scores of equally unimpressive people wrote pieces trying to explain or justify his remarks, when they should have called for his removal.

Of course he was hanging out with Jeffrey Epstein, doing whatever they all did with him. Of course Larry Summers' mind was not merely dull, but noxious and cruel. Powerful white men take for granted their mutual protection, such that they rarely worry when they expose themselves for what they are.
