I am ready to get to business and do the work for our state! Thank you to my colleagues, who inspire me every day, and to retiring Majority Leader Gail Chasey, whose friendship and mentorship have blessed me for almost 20 years. www.santafenewmexican.com/news/legisla...

Szczepanski replaces Rep. Gail Chasey, who didn't run for reelection this year. Republicans selected Gail Armstrong, R-Magdalena, as House minority leader.

When a firefighter develops occupational cancer, it’s a terrifying moment. They face routine toxic exposure to keep us safe, and our laws should reflect that reality. HB 128 passed the House 61–1 to ensure firefighters who get sick on the job have access to the support they deserve.

HB127 passed the House unanimously! This bill expands access to care by improving expedited licensure, strengthening telehealth, and allowing highly trained international doctors to practice here. The new telehealth registry will be a lifeline for patients who can’t safely travel for specialty care.

Proud to co-sponsor Senate Bill 55 with Sen.Mimi Stewart, because it would increase New Mexico’s solar tax credit from 10% to 30%, raise the cap from $6,000 to $15,000, and help homeowners and small businesses afford clean energy while supporting local solar jobs across our state.
New Mexico solar firms hope tax credit hike will help boost business
With the expiration of a federal tax credit, installation companies are feeling the strain. Customers are relying more heavily on state aid.

I’m proud the House once again passed The Immigrant Safety Act today. We chose compassion, care, and dignity, and refuse to be complicit in harm. We also pledge to work with the communities impacted to ensure economic opportunity outside of private detention.

WE are the authors of our American dream, where immigrants like my family have safety, respect, and a place in our shared home. This is a frightening time in our country as ICE tries to push people into silence, fear and hiding.

www.abqjournal.com/business/alb... Creativity is part of New Mexico’s economic future. Albuquerque’s creative economy supported 17.6K jobs and generated $1.75B in 2024. Building on that strength is a priority for me this session.
Albuquerque’s creative economy shows strong post-pandemic recovery, report says
In 2024, creative businesses in the Albuquerque metro area employed 17,682 workers

This is not a deal — it's an empty promise.

Trump and his Republican Congress are making healthcare more expensive for the middle class and ending it for working families.

Without this Special Session, New Mexicans will see insurance premiums soar on the Exchange. We want New Mexicans to know, regardless of what happens in Washington, D.C., your state lawmakers are looking out for you.

Today I visited @IAIASantaFe in my district and it’s such a jewel. From studio arts to creative writing to museum studies, students are learning to create in ways that both honor tradition and push boundaries. Honored to witness the work happening in this incredible space. 🎨🖌️🖼️

Violence has no place in American political dialogue. I’m shocked to hear about the shooting of Charlie Kirk today, and I’m keeping him and all those impacted in my thoughts.

Vaccines should be available to those who want them. Once again, New Mexico is picking up the slack where the federal government has fallen short. Check DOH’s COVID-19 info page for updates. www.npr.org/sections/sho...
Concerned about federal vaccine policies, states are crafting their own
As federal health agencies change their approach to vaccine policy leaving access for COVID shots uncertain, some states are taking things into their own hands.

Trump sold out working people, cutting their healthcare and raising costs to pay for tax giveaways to the wealthiest Americans. We will not sit back and let cruel federal policy rob our neighbors of their healthcare and food security. www.governor.state.nm.us/2025/09/04/g...

We just passed HB586 in the House to create oversight of hospital mergers. NM is a top target for private equity—we must ensure these deals don’t hurt patient care or healthcare workers. Last year, we set up temporary oversight—now we’re fighting to make it permanent. tinyurl.com/2rkav4nc

First responders deal with PTSD, chronic pain, and high rates of cancer. But for more than 15 years, they have been barred from using medical cannabis to treat symptoms. We’re on the way to changing that with HB230 passing the House Floor tonight.
