They like Trump and they want to help him
One of the great failures of contemporary political news coverage in a lot of media is the unspoken principle that no violation of norms or decency by Trump is really news, worthy of sustained attention, unless it also upsets people who love him. It isn't "not taking the bait"; it's sleepwalking.

Agree on the politics, but important to realize Rubio et al believe Venezuela regime change is the key to transforming the whole region, not least Cuba. Very much like neocons and Iraq, very parallel. This is a major geopolitical aim for them, much deeper than wag the dog
Seems like Trump and his groupies think starting a regime change war of conquest out of nowhere is a political masterstroke that will get them back on the front foot, but I don’t think that’s how it will play out.

Wiping out Oracle's IP--all of it--with a quick Congressional bill at the start of a new admin--would more than suffice to make everyone realize that liberals, when sufficiently angry, are scarier than reactionaries.

And it would destroy a parasitic copyright troll of negative economic value.
this will only change when democrats punish or threaten to punish
Also, I get why the networks caved and agreed to air a clearly political speech not related to breaking news: They're scared, it's his first year back, and it's not worth the blowback. But the same networks refused to run Biden's Democracy speech and Obama speeches on health care + immigration.

I keep saying this but no one is connecting the dots. The war is to satisfy legal preconditions for mass removal *domestically* of Latinos (i.e., suddenly a lot of people are going to be “Venezuelan” for purposes of removal). This is 100% Stephen Miller…oil claim is to make grandpa go along
There is no national security logic that would impel the US to want to do regime change in Venezuela. It's simply not that important. I'm not even sure wag the dog is the right metaphor for what's happening here. Seems like an insane misallocation of US national security assets and attention.
Trump: "Venezuela is completely surrounded by the largest Armada ever assembled ... It will only get bigger, and the shock to them will be like nothing they have ever seen before — Until such time as they return to the USA all of the Oil, Land, and other Assets that they previously stole from us."

Stephen Miller is employing state terror in service of the open goal of shifting the ethnic mix of the country. In numerous ways he's doing this at the expense of public safety.

If you look at how, where and when the NYT deliberately obscures facts that are known to the author but would undercut the thrust of an “objective” story (in this case trying to make a college dropout appear to be a graduate) you’ll notice that’s always in service of the conservative agenda
This NYT story failed the reader by not digging deeper. One subject dropped out of college after one year (five years ago) and lists "Windows" as his skillset. Story should be: young conservatives who blame immigrants for their personal failures and whose lives won't be improved w/ fewer immigrants
