I am like the last person in the anti-fracking community to post about this today bc it’s so cowardly, outrageous, and contrary to science that I…can’t even.

NY Gov Kathy Hochul just APPROVED both the NESE fracked gas pipeline pushed by Trump AND the fracked gas Bitcoin monstrosity at Seneca Lake.

Forrest Smith, the only National Park Service engineer cleaning up abandoned oil and gas wells, lost his contract, leaving 93 orphaned wells on park lands unmanaged. These leaking wells release methane and toxins, threatening human health and the environment.

their plainly stated goal is to starve forty million people until they get what they want, which is to rip health care away from millions more

that this is too monstrous for most news organizations to tell the truth about does not change the facts
The USDA sent an email to grocery stores telling them they are prohibited from offering special discounts to customers affected by the SNAP funding lapse.
I'm aware of at least 2 stores that had offered struggling customers a discount, then withdrew it after receiving this email

As utility bills rise nationwide, the Trump administration is forcing retiring coal plants to keep operating and fast-tracking oil and gas projects, while trying to halt clean energy projects like solar and offshore wind. But clean energy is cheaper than fossil fuels.

Administrators at Indiana University baselessly fired the student media director and ordered the student paper to cease its print edition, so it'd sure be a shame if this excellent digital front page were to be widely shared today

🔥 The never-ending narrative…
This week, I’ve once again heard prominent climate researchers dismiss individual action as either irrelevant or a distraction instigated by the fossil fuel industry.

Here’s a 🧵 on why this argument frustrates me to no end and why I think it misses the bigger picture.

This decision means SNAP participants who live in areas where jobs are scarce in CA, CT, DC, GU, IL, KY, MI, MT, MN, ND, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OR, RI, VI, and WA will be at risk of being cut off SNAP by the program's harsh & ineffective work requirement even earlier than anticipated.
The megabill limited states’ ability to request waivers of this work requirement in areas with few jobs. But citing no legal authority, USDA announced on Friday that they will be revoking previously approved waivers in 30 days, accelerating this harsh policy in many states.
