Just in case... If anyone is keen to try Wonky Box but looking for a discount, here's a 25% off code (if you use it, I get 25% off too). LM3MLT is the code. For our first box today and quite impressed! Thinking we'll do it once a month.

Re the NZ Curriculum... "It’s recolonisation disguised as reform." Was seriously thinking about renewing my teaching certificate... Absolutely not happening now. #NZPol

The new Social studies curriculum is atrocious in general, but I just want to shine a spotlight on the explicit retreading of literal Nazi propaganda that is woven through the year 10 content! Buckle up this shit is shocking!

22 hours with no power (and no estimate for restoration), house damaged but all safe. Limited cell phones working down there (I'm in Dunedin for the morning). That wind in Clutha was hectic - the district is annihilated. Fortunately, mainly superficial damage so far.

I wish I was still a journo in Hokitika on days like this. Grant was a frequent flier to my office back when I was. The stories I could tell... 😂
If she secures it, it'll have been 6th time lucky.

Ahakoa he iti, he iti nā te aroha. This month's @goodbitchesbake.bsky.social off to Women's Refuge. One daughter does the box design each month, the other helps bake.

Absolute baloney. While waitlists for first specialist assessments (FSA) may be improving, its what happens after that's the kicker. 10 months (and waiting) for the followup test the FSA ordered and we're a "semi urgent" patient.

Dr Bex nails it again
This reads an AWFUL lot like,

The wealthy boomers we hang out with don't understand NCEA so we are making it super simple for them to know who the clever kids are.

It utterly fails to understand that anyone under the age of 40 is VERY familiar with NCEA and has a solid working knowledge of it all
Oh yes that will fix it. Let’s completely change everything on a whim and in a hurry. Yup, job done.

I'm stepping down after 6 years, including last 3 as chair. I knew I had to when I was taking time off work (unpaid) to do board work. It's relentless, challenging and so frustrating. The lack of nominations does not surprise me at all.
Also, parents are TIRED of being in school boards!!

It is a never-ending task:
- Primary school
- Intermediate
- High school

No compensation, loads of work, limited power to enact real change, minmal thanks.

It's horrendous. Tomorrow's Schools has failed

Schools are struggling to recruit new board members as deadlines loom
Just 2000 parents have applied across 10,000 soon-to-be empty school board positions.

@stephm1.bsky.social Random, but my 11 y.o is doing a study on an NZ author @ school and she chose.... You! She has 1 question she'd love to know, if you have a moment to indulge her: what inspires you as a writer? (Flight of the Fantail is her favourite book ever - big horror/gruesome fan 😂).

Keen to know how order numbers are stacking up. Our school went from every child (aka 100%) gets a lunch to opt in (24%), one term after the change to Seymour's slop.
#BHN Holy shit, school lunches is the gift that just keeps on giving to commentators (not so much to the school kids)
