Trade unionist, feminist, Organiser. Generally a good egg. (Hard shell, delicious, disastrous if dropped)
The world is so sad and so sick. All of the effort, all of the cost this is going to mean. All of the lengths they are going to. All of it just to be cruel.

Parts of the union movement in the U.K. seem like a death cult today. Hooray for a 3rd runway! Why bother recruiting in green industries and negotiating for proper transition deals when we can just soak up the membership fees from hush-money recognition agreements with the planet killers.

So today the Chancellor has said that airport expansion is "good for families wanting to go on cheap holidays". This is her "growth" plan. Making it cheaper to go to (e.g.) a Spanish island. How about making it cheaper to get to Blackpool, Great Yarmouth or Torquay?

Absolutely amazing - beyond belief, a DISGRACE - that Big Pharma, for decades now, has been engaged in a cover up to try and stop us all realising that Baileys is a cure for the common cold.

if i've learned one thing from doing union stuff while also doing other forms of organizing, it's that you're better off with people you disagree with who are nevertheless trying to do the same thing as you than with people you agree with who aren't trying to do anything

there are people content with their political line existing as a subculture, are indifferent or even hostile to attempts to move beyond that. maybe that's fine, even, but they certainly don't need your help! go where help is needed - and those will be places that are trying to accomplish something

nobody at the level of power we say we're aiming to contest - who could launch an ICBM, capital strike, or planetary scale disinformation campaign - is worried about the fine details of our lil critiques, or precisely what kind of socialist/anarchist/anti-imperialist is frowning at them. be serious.

another curmudgeonly thread for the many of you who will be entering organizing spaces.

all other things being equal, when confronted with one team of people recruiting you to Be a Thing and another team recruiting you to Do a Thing, please give serious thought to joining the second.

Hello brave new world. If you don’t know me, what I’ve woken up thinking about is a good introduction:
- will and should the housing movement replicate trade unions to win?
- I saw david Tennant playing Macbeth last night and he was SO GOOD that I *almost* didn’t notice how beautiful he is
