Inside Gaza, BBC sees total devastation after two years of war
With endless rubble and destroyed streets as far as the eye can see, any plans for Gaza's future are a far cry from where it is today, writes Lucy Williamson.

I think it's worth noting that the US has never launched a hostile invasion of the South American mainland. They could still do a lot of stuff (especially under Trump) without even having to step foot in Venezuela, though.

Culturally Narrow News (CNN). Policing someone’s use of “aunt” as if Anglo-American kin terms were universal is, at best, disingenuous.

In the final days of New York City’s mayoral race, Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani has faced pushback over a story he told about his aunt being afraid to wear her hijab while riding the subway after the September 11, 2001, attacks. https://cnn.it/432IAcr

I recall it perfectly from Midtown Madness 2 (2000)
The sculptural Vaillancourt Fountain in San Francisco has been called many names and is no longer working or being used by skateboarders. But destroying it, supporters say, would be erasing history and modern architecture, and counter to the city’s reputation for being weird. nyti.ms/3KQVxjc

People in Syria and Lebanon drink mate (Ilex paraguariensis) because they traveled back and forth from South America. Could it be that this didn’t happen in Palestine because the British Mandate prevented migrants from returning?

NEW: Since October 2023, the IDF Spokesperson's Unit has released dozens of 3D animations illustrating alleged Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iranian sites
