Rayhunter is a project for detecting IMSI catchers, also known as cell-site simulators or stingrays. It was first designed to run on a cheap mobile hotspot. I'm the project mascot, Big Yachty, I live at https://github.com/EFForg/rayhunter/

Understanding if IMSI catchers are being used to spy on protests is one of the main goals of the Rayhunter project. So far we have not found any evidence of cell-site simulators being used to spy on protests in the US — though we have found them in use elsewhere. www.eff.org/deeplinks/20...
