I can envision this future interview pattern... "When I asked you that question, you just answered it. You didn't seem to type anything, or consult a screen. Are you not using AI to assist you with this interview?"

Today's masala chai is ginger, fennel and green cardamom. And fennel is an interesting choice... hints of licorice, but also, ya know, fennel.

I like it, but I don't think it'd be my go-to.

Is it normal for Indian teas to be ground up instead of dried leaves?

First Teabox sample packet empty.

Assam tea, black pepper, clove, green cardamom, cinnamon, ginger. Really liked this one... has a very nice aroma.

Though this last pot, I feel like the black pepper settled to the bottom. It's a lot spicier than the previous ones.

I was also thinking about keyboards that drop the function keys, and I realized how little software actually _uses_ function keys anymore. I think some of that is the movement to web-based apps, which can't see function keys.

But I know both Linux and Mozilla apps still use them. But they're […]

Looking at a keyboard layout that removes the "end" key (but keeps "home"), and I'm like, "No, I couldn't use that keyboard!" But then I started thinking... do I even use the home/end keys anymore? I used to use spreadsheet software that used "end" to jump to the end of the _data_ in a column […]

Dear Teabox,

It is not an "open letter from Teabox" if it contains my personal discount code and a reminder that I have only 24 more hours to redeem it.

Also, 21 emails in 3 days for a single shipment of tea is way too many emails. Even if some of those are from the two third-parties involved […]

What's the point of outlook.office.com signing me out every day, if I just have to click the "sign in" button and _not_ supply any credentials to get back in?

I don't understand UX designers.

[Windows 10 security]

If you are still on Windows 10, and you have not enrolled in ESU (Extended Security Update program), _and_ you depend on Windows antivirus: not only are you not getting Windows security patches, you are _not getting antivirus signature updates_.

If you back up your […]

I don't know why I found myself thinking about it this morning.

If you find yourself wanting to gift a retirement investment to young kids, don't give them a fund they have to do anything to manage. The first year we were married, my MIL gifted us a fund that was invested in big equipment... earth movers, that kind of thing. It paid out $50 every quarter for […]

That thing where you think, "It's a 3-day weekend, I can take it easy and spread out my chores." Then Monday gets here and you're like, "Today's a holiday, I don't want to do any work."

😆 I just need to fold a load of laundry and do some dishes, and maybe tear down an old O'Sullivan shelf.

Finally made it to the end of Friends season 5. Halfway there.

Really did not expect to like it this much. And I probably wouldn't have when I was the age of the characters.

"You don't have to make optimal decisions as a player."

I forget where I got this snippet of #roleplaying advice, but it's something I keep having to remind myself when I play. I don't play often, I mostly GM. But when I play, I can get decision paralysis because I don't have full information.

@silver.phoenyx.net There's two different Japanese sauces in the fridge that are a good substitute, though.

I am super comfortable with my MS Ergonomic, except that it's a membrane keyboard and they wear out. A mechanical keyboard would give me more control over the switch feel, would wear much longer, and the switches would be replaceable.

(I literally have a spare Ergonomic in my closet for when […]

But I keep wondering if I can adapt to thumb buttons. I don't think I can... and the fact that I couldn't tell you which thumb I use for space is why. I don't do a lot of thinking about how I type, and I've got over 40 years of ingrained experience typing on a standard keyboard. Clearly, that […]

Now that I have a 3d printer, I want to build my own ergo keyboard, but I have a lot of requirements. I tried a Kinesis a couple year ago and just couldn't adjust because it eliminated all the space between key blocks and arranged the home/end/pgup/pgdn keys into a single column. Just really […]

Thinking about those weird ergonomic keyboards that put enter, backspace, etc on keys under the thumb, and "space" is a single key accessible only from one hand. So I wondered which thumb I use for space...
