So grateful the Bay State Banner highlighted our work in the context of Boston’s youth mental health policy efforts. @randimschuster.bsky.social

More school support=more power to prevent, not just respond

We need sustainable, community-centered solutions

Substance use continues to woefully lag behind other mental health efforts in schools, relegating it to misplaced, ineffective, harmful, and discriminatory disciplinary responses. We know better. Let’s do better.
Our new study out today in JAMA:

US schools from 2008-20:
✅ Mental health education: 83.8% → 89.8%
✅ Suicide prevention: 70.1% → 81.8%
✅ Teacher training for mental health: 36.1% → 67.7%

But substance use prevention training? Still stuck at ~45%

It’s #GivingTuesday! In such trying times, recommit to community. Consider a donation to support pediatric cancer patients, ER staff, and US brave military service members.

Maybe $26.20 for each mile my old bones are attempting to shuffle across??
