Horror movies also tend to happen in the only towns in America where nobody has a gun. Sometimes overlapping with the only towns where the police were apparently trained in Europe and only pull their guns as a last resort.
I love how horror movies have to take place in an alternate universe where media doesn't exist. Like if 17 children magically vanished from a small town, that wouldn't have the *town* in an uproar, Fox News would be doing 24/7 coverage, the streets would be choked with podcasters.

Is the reading experience at all enhanced by adding the impression Lovecraft may have been a serial killer?
I own the most ridiculous book in the world: A bound reprint of the original hand-written draft of 'At the Mountain of Madness' which, due to poverty, Lovecraft wrote on the back of scrap paper. So they also scanned in the old letters & junk mail on the back of every page.
