Great dissection of where the world stands on climate 10 years after Paris: better than ever; worse than needed.

But lemme quibble a bit with the CO₂ₑ emissions pathways painted here.

A quick 🧵

Today we celebrate the birthday of not one, but two amazing women in science! 🤗🎉Marie Skłodowska-Curie (1867), who discovered #radium & #polonium & pioneered #radioactivity, & Lise Meitner (1878), whose brilliance uncovered the physics behind #nuclearfission. Happy birthday, trailblazers! ✨

Elon is fundamentally misunderstanding Wikipedia. It's not a dataset, it's a village. Its rules and inhabitants change and this is what makes it resilient.

If you'd like a longform version of this argument, start with this article

Our work is now published (open access) in the Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters 🥳

Read more for applications of polymeric models in the field of disordered proteins.

Electrostatic Collapse of Intrinsically Disordered Acid-Rich Protein Is Sensitive to Counterion Valency
Intrinsically disordered proteins (IDPs) respond sensitively to their ionic environment, yet the mechanisms driving ion-induced conformational changes remain incompletely understood. Here, we investig...

New article out in @sociusjournal.bsky.social.

It shows how closely linked motherhood penalties 🤰📉 and gender inequalities 👨‍💼💰👩‍💼 are by studying many local labour markets.

We have a new Oberbürgermeisterin in Potsdam!
No seat is "a safe seat" when you parachute a candidate and follow it up with a campaign of disrespect. Hopefully SPD will learn something from this 70-to-30 outcome and loss of a office they held for 35 years.

Had a very enjoyable (and productive!) time at a group retreat of @complexityup.bsky.social, especially since it was in the middle of the famous Elbsandstein climbing region.

On Sunday, 7 September 2025, a total #lunareclipse will take place in the evening hours and can be observed for the most parts of Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Enjoy watching the sky! 🔭😍 (The next total lunar eclipse will not take place until New Year's Eve 2028/29)

What do espresso, marine snow, and disordered proteins have in common?

See the connections in our projects and many more at Warsaw Soft Matter Day mini-conference on 10th October!

📢 Speaker registration deadline: this Friday!

I'm really grateful that the @humboldt-foundation.de sponsors this! Still so much to learn 🙂
