Weird music maker and fan named MP Lockwood, Radio Shock is my one-man no wave/janktronix band, but also kinda my identity now.

Where would a person buy audio cables and/or adapters in the modern day? Back in the day I'd just hit a Radio Shack. But now? Need a couple cables to go from 1/8" stereo to 1/4" mono.

Just flew to Seattle to play some shows & discovered that United left my checked bag back in New Jersey!!! Luckily I'm a little paranoid (justifiably it appears) and carried my sequencer and guitar, so I can still do a set of simplified old-school songs. But yeesh the stress. Not cool, United.

It amuses me greatly to discover that everything my dad always told me I was wasting my money on: records, comic books, band T-shirts, now even CDs and the Transformers toys I asked for as a kid - has proven to be a totally solid investment.

"Wintry mix" sounds like something delightful but is actually The Worst Weather.

Can someone just make Tetris for iPhone that is EXACTLY like the old Gameboy version? No hints or dotted line guides (cheating) or online anything (garbage)

Calling it now: That White House ballroom will not be finished before the end of 2028. Wouldn't be surprised if it's still a big hole in the ground.

Trapped in a Lyft ride and hearing what might be my new worst song I've ever heard: Miley Cyrus "Party in the USA" not just worst song but maybe the worst sound I've ever heard. Making me nauseous.

Trump's "Art of the Deal" makes sense if you understand he's not a deal artist like Frank Lloyd Wright was an architectural artist, he's a deal artist like Cock ESP are musical artists.

Favorite bathroom sign misspellings I've seen:
"Bathroom is temporally out of order"
"Bathroom is for costumers only"

Long thread, but you can read a few posts and get the gist. Kind of scary but fascinating summary of the shift in college student behavior in the age of AI/TikTok/etc as primary media consumption. How did these ppl graduate high school? How will they hold any job?
An issue we're seeing at all levels of university is that many students are simply refusing to do *anything*. They aren't reading the syllabus, aren't following assignment guidelines, aren't engaging with material, ignoring deadlines. And this might seem like old news, but it truly has ramped up.

In making beats for Radio Shock, I've never used cymbal sounds (except hi hat) I always thought who needs em? But I was listening to some rock music (Nirvana) & noting how much work the cymbals are doing to accentuate & convey "this is the loud/exciting part" maybe I should try adding some?

I kinda admire how My Bloody Valentine spent 20+ years on the follow-up to the legendarily meticulous "Loveless" and then the album has several songs that are clearly in-studio improv jams, including one where they play to a drum machine's "hoedown" beat (my fave track)

I observed that my nephew (19) was frequently calling & receiving calls from friends. I told him I've always heard that young people hate actually talking on the phone and will only text. He said "Oh that's just Millenials. Millenials are weird."

Dude out here using a huge, loud, gas-powered backpack blower to move some stray dirt off the sidewalk. A job that could be done in less time with a standard broom.

Popular Mechanics is absolutely the worst offender in this category of totally-misinterpreted-and-misrepresented scientific speculation that turns into headlines fully detached from reality.

The next noise band playing this fest is called Feet and they're performing under a sheet with only their bare feet sticking out. #noiselife

Did someone keep a list of everyone who said they'd leave NYC if Zohran won? Because we should hold them all to that promise.
