The last addition to FF7 analog controls is being able to scroll the camera using the right stick. In most cases it's just a cool gimmick but some times you can peek into parts of the backgrounds that would not be visible during normal gameplay.

either the devs will stay truthful to their assurances about "closely following the original" and commit a colossal storytelling no-no with these pointless rug pulls, or they will change something significant that renders their previous comments false and patronizing. Not a great look either way

FFVII Rebirth director Hamaguchi says he wants the 3rd game to come out as quickly as possible, and then move on to digging deeper with other stories. He wants to heed the call to spotlight other parts of the game's universe and look at different characters (Daily Star, 11/21/24)

I guess my problem/concern with this is if when this is all said and done and there is no more "wonder" to be had, we'll just look back at all these changes and see that they actually did nothing to enhance the overall story, just overcomplicate it.
