Save solar jobs.
A strong economy isn't about cutting budgets.
-Good-paying jobs disappear
-Families face higher energy costs
-U.S. loses an energy

When we throw up our hands and say none of it matters, we're doing the fascists’ work for them. They don't need to hide their corruption if they can convince us it's pointless to look. They don't need to silence truth-tellers if we've already decided truth is meaningless.

I'm strong supporter of renewable energy & home solar. Our system allows me to work from home uninterrupted by main outages. But the industry needs help now. Please help us advocate for continued federal support. #saveSolarAcces

No Phone Home please!

Digital identity systems should not “phone home”.Digital credentials should not silently report back to their issuers or any central authority when they're used.

That’s called surveillance.Phil Windley explains why. It might be in your mDL!

Let's Stop Phoning Home
When you're the parent of a teenager out late at night, the prospect of them phoning home might seem reassuring.

I’m very impressed with the NYT Opinion writer M. Gessen. They are expressing in clear direct prose the hopes and beliefs that many of us who have spent their lives dedicated to the academy hold. Other institutional leaders need to stand shoulder to shoulder with Harvard on this issue.

Are Ayra First Person Credentials the building blocks for progressive trust graphs applicable to the many dimensions of personhood? (ayra.forum/ayra-network...). They are a good candidate if we can assure the identity represented by otherwise opaque DIDs, without resorting to a single central agency

Just listened to one of the better talks I've heard by a leader in the AI work, Ilya Sutskever, now at Safe Superintelligence (yes, they seem to be using the abbreviation "SSI").He's arguing that current AI models have reached 'peak data'. Scaling improvements dependent on training data are done.

The US continues to fall further behind the rest of the developed world in maternal mortality. The disparity in impact on women of color continues. Between 2000 & 2015 maternal mortality declined by 30%, & ROSE in the US over that same period.
Why are we ignoring this crisis?

Finally figured out what I suppose should have been obvious. My return to running post Covid simply has to start at a much slower pace than I expected.

I’m not a fast runner by any means. But the Covid interlude knocked a good 2.5+ mins/mile off my prior training pace.

Gotta restart from there.

Apparently BS is just slow to add posted replies. I’m not accustomed to such delays on social media, but it is what it is.

Why is it that when I comment or reply to a post on Bluesky the message doesn’t appear after it is sent? Is there some magic incantation that I’m failing to chant before pressing “send”?

Just watched “It Ain’t Over Till It’s Over”, the doco about Yogi Berra. It was just great. He was a really kind, generous and good person who led a life that I think anyone would strive to. What an underrated player -12 WS rings? Multiple seasons w/ 24 or few strikouts for the SEASON? Whaaat? Lovely

Getting back to the gym after a 20+ day bout of covid has been hard. Doesn’t help that I’m and old fart, I guess, but I’m finding the lifting easier to get back into than the running. For that’s backwards from what I’ve always been attracted to and enjoyed more.

Recovery times are much longer. :-(
