It's been a hard few months and I needed a rest day yesterday, so I missed Short Run for the first time in many years. If you went, what inspired you? What do you now want to make?!

I’m helping students set up a food pantry at the high school where I teach. I know some of y’all have done this before; I’d love resources for best practices and guidelines as we move forward

Teachers (and everyone else!) need to be able to get season vaccines like covid and flu. Have these people ever been in a classroom in January, where you can’t hear anyone over the coughing?

I can’t stop recommending Martha Park’s WORLD WITHOUT END: ESSAYS ON APOCALYPSE AND AFTER, for its determination, its capacity to consider and witness, its generous accompaniment in time. It’s out today from @hubcitypress.bsky.social: www.hubcity.org/books/nonfic...

For fans of Margaret Renkl and Lisa Wells’s Believers, World Without End circles the connections between climate change and faith in the fear and fascination of the end of the world.

Also, anyone can take action! Do you have a kid who is in college, or soon going to college? Because that's what's getting dismantled - their future.
Our University leadership is letting us down. The College of Arts & Sciences at UW is trying to lay off over 200 people - our departmental staff in an ill-planned (barely planned) attempt to cut costs by centralizing staff (they have not talked to... anyone about this)

i realize the title is a bit counterintuitive but the answer is that you cannot as an individual guarantee your food is safe. we can, as a collective, push back HARD on dismantling food safety regulations, and put pressure on an unpopular administration to keep our food from killing us.
