Today I introduced a Bill to Parliament to push for a fairer leasehold system with Right to Manage reform. A reinvigorated Right to Manage would empower leaseholders and hold unscrupulous managing agents to account. 👇

I am shocked and saddened to hear the news from Knightsbridge yesterday evening. My thoughts are with the family and friends of the victim, as well as with the local residents.

Today we mark the 20th anniversary of the terrible bombings on 7 July 2005. We remember all those who lost their lives, those who were injured and their awful suffering. Their loved ones are in our thoughts.

I am encouraged by this progress with clamping down on pedicabs. We need to see the regulations implemented urgently and I will continue to push TfL on this timeline.

Today is #CleanAirDay!

This morning, @metecoban92.bsky.social and I met with the City of London Youth Member of Parliament Zahra.

Zahra has been campaigning for cleaner air since she was elected.

By cleaning up our air, we can all benefit from lasting health improvements.

On Radio 4, I reflected on the importance of ensuring that the voices of women & girls are made central to this discussion around a National Inquiry into Grooming Gangs.

We must continue to emphasise the impact that this has had on their lives and how we can best support them.

Politics can be tough, but it should never be consumed by hatred.

Abuse and intimidation must not become accepted parts of public life.

We need to reclaim a politics rooted in respect, courage and compassion.

90,000 children in London sleep in temporary accommodation tonight.

Glad to see this Govt announce the £39bn investment in affordable housing over the next decade. Our growth mission can only succeed if everyone has secure, affordable homes.

My question to the Chancellor👇

Great to hear bold commitments in today’s #SpendingReview: Over £1bn confirmed for social housing remediation, giving providers equal access to funding. A vital step in improving homes, safety & affordability for tenants across the UK.

The Tories presided over a mass selling of our social housing, supercharging the Right to Buy and slashing grant funding.

I am proud of this Government reversing 14 years of decline, increasing housing spending by 50% and curtailing the Right to Buy.

After nearly 200 years and long fought campaign, this Government is ending the criminalisation of rough sleeping, no one should face punishment for sleeping rough. We must make sure people receive care and respect, not punishment.

The Government has confirmed it will repeal the outdated Vagrancy Act 1824 by Spring next year, to ensure rough sleeping is no longer a criminal offence.

I spoke on BBC 5 Live about the urgent need for quality homes for veterans and serving Armed Forces members. This govt has brought these homes back in-house, ensuring that when people serve our country, we recognise their sacrifice and provide certainty of good-quality housing.

We are living through a moment of extraordinary change – one that future generations will look back on as either the moment we transformed our energy system, or chose not to.

Our new report with @lcef.bsky.social says it clearly: now is the time for community power, in every sense of the word.
