Horrific tragedy. This is exactly what happens when a worldview refuses to tolerate Jews living openly, visibly, and together.

Chanukah is only on the surface about light banishing darkness. In truth, it is about refusing to disappear.
It is beyond comprehension that someone could survive the Holocaust only to be gunned down while celebrating a Jewish holiday. Or lose their spouse to antisemitic gun violence. It’s hard to find the words. 3/

Grateful for the bystander who intervened at the #Bondi attack.

But notice how quickly the story shifted to the rescuer’s identity, while the fact that *Jews* were targeted at a holiday celebration fades into the background?

Bravery deserves recognition. Antisemitism deserves to be named clearly.

The death toll in Sydney keeps climbing. Victims include:
* a 12 year-old girl
* a rabbi
* a Holocaust survivor

A hero prevented a shooter from continuing his carnage.

We all need to be the heroes and stop the spread of hate before it turns violent.

🧵on what the world needs to understand after the Bondi Beach terrorist attack against Jews on Chanukah…

1/ This wasn’t random. Hatred is learned, rewarded, normalized, then acted upon. Violence is the final step, not the first.

Do your own research” on Hep B requires…billions of $$, 15–20 years, labs, large human trials, and full expert teams in virology, immunology, and clinical science.

I guess everyone should get started on that now starting with at least a PhD in Biology.

What gives you hope?

Not what makes you optimistic, but rather gives you the courage to hope?

I think it’s safe to say that Dylan Cease is past his prime. In what universe do the Padres lose to the White Sox?

The new album from the California Honeydrops is excellent. In one word: luscious. Go listen to it.

Opinion: San Diego Pride must reject antisemitism and champion true inclusion
San Diego Pride's decision to feature Kehlani — an artist who has amplified antisemitic rhetoric — has left many LGBTQ Jews feeling excluded and unsafe.

What’s with the haters? Luis Arraez since ‘22:

@PatrickDLyons In the history of baseball, only four times has a team scored 20+ runs and pitched a shutout.

NYY: 21-0, 8/13/1939 (G2)

I miss Fred Rogers.

I miss having a national hero who modeled virtues like empathy, humility, compassion, grace, and kindness.

The bullies have stolen the national spotlight. Bravado may be celebrated now, but it is destructive — causing only pain and humiliation.

Let’s move the spotlight.
