There are many reasons to help people. One that I think gets overlooked sometimes is: helping others often helps you. So if you feel like shit, don’t flagellate yourself in the dark. Leave your head a little. Extend some kindness. You can’t do everything, but you can do some things.

Any attempts to pull away were useless against the firm grasp – all of the movement was due to the bandit's control as he effortlessly turned the noble face slightly from side to side. The intense stare had broken, instead of direct eye contact the bandit's gaze now focused on Ashen’s face as a whole, scanning over the details with mild curiosity. Something swayed lightly in the cat's peripheral vision, he'd assume it to be the messy tail of the canine, yet he didn't dare to let his gaze drop to check. At least in his books he was the winner of this ridiculous staredown, even if that victory didn't give much relief in the moment. The tension was starting to feel tormenting at this closeness, like the bandit was slowly drawing him in. And sure enough, eventually the bandit closed the distance, pulling the prince's lips to meet his own.
