Though Dublin was under artillery attack tonight but then I checked the calendar…

Also stupid night for fireworks, there’s a howler of a gale out.

How I’ll sleep tonight after recharging from the presidential and knowing there shouldn’t be another election for the next 4 years unless something goes awry in the Dáil.

Micheal Martin not going to Dublin Castle is actually disgraceful. He’s constitutionally mandated to meet and appraise the President of the political issues of the day and won’t be bothered to show up to the declaration. #aras25

Didn’t work for Gay Mitchell. Doubt it will work for Micheal Martin. Terrible optics
The Taoiseach is not coming to Dublin Castle for the official declaration of Catherine Connolly's victory in the presidential election.

Whether intended or not, it's going to look very confrontational for the head of government NOT to be there to congratulate the new head of state

Meanwhile in the rds they tried to charge me 3.55 for a can of coke. #aras25

Btw for those wondering, there is no exit poll #aras25 however the Electoral Commission will be doing a post election review but probably won’t be release for a few weeks after the vote.

For Halloween, Met Eireann should really change the town names to the spooky place names. Like Castlefreake, Gorey and all the Kill villages around the Island.

I’m actually surprised. My local polling station is busy. #ivoted

I swear to god if I hear another thing about Catherine Connelly was a barrister who represented banks and it’s a scandal nonsense I’m going to get a migraine.
Seriously it’s one one small step away from the Daily Mail’s enemies of the people/uk supreme court front page.
Knock it off.

I’m just more shocked by the car going behind “paul connelly”. Did AI put Mary Mitchell O’Connor back in the car park and she’s driven into the National Museum side?

Also this sort of fake nomination withdraw nonsense is probably an electoral offence.
We knew this would happen. Note how realistic the visuals and voices are.
This AI deepfake video of Catherine Connolly ‘withdrawing’ from presidential contest and that Friday’s poll is ‘cancelled’ is live and viral on Facebook tonight.
1000s watching, commenters believing it.

Oh danger here for Heather #aras25
October 21, 2025 at 9:01 PM
Miriam is on a very interesting line of questioning here which is digging into whether Heather can be critical without a whip. #aras25
October 21, 2025 at 8:54 PM
Catherine doesn’t need to explain anything about being a barrister. Heather Humphries needs to be questioned on why the hell she’s still banging on about the bar knowing it’s a non issue and smacks of misinformation #aras25
October 21, 2025 at 8:44 PM
If this was a constitutional law exam then Catherine Connelly is already wining with the use of the separation of powers and the constitutional oath #aras25

Final debate time of #aras25 a small sigh of relief that this campaign is almost over.

The only question that remains after that fg catherine connelly attack ad is which eejit authorised it to go out.
Utter nonsense from fg. I hope anyone with in an asses roar of a bl qualification in fg is on the phone to hq in the morning to tell them to cop on.

I’ve just seen my first Maria Steen spoilt the vote poster in Clonmel. I’m honestly disgusted by it. You just know she’ll claim every spoilt vote as a vote for her when spoiling can be for multiple reasons not just support for her.

So it seems hospitality will get it’s vat rate cut yet you still can’t get the tax carers credit if you’re not married.

Marvellous stuff

The whole ff nonsense has really shown now how it’s a ridiculous idea to block council noms by parties. Parties have no constitutional position. Local gov and oireachtas do. Transplanting the whip through bodies is ridiculous.
