You should be. Most of us were proud and thankful to call him our president.
So proud of my father for all the passion, courage, care and vision he brought to the last 14 years as President of Ireland. Both my parents have always been driven by a deep wide love for Ireland & the world, for people, planet & possibilities. Looking forward to their next chapter! #Grá #spiergirm

SUPERB and angrily unvarnished response, by former BBC chairman, Lord Patten.

And a good time to remind ourselves that everything we receive in any form of media is the result of some editorial decision.
Once every 20 years or so, the director-general of the BBC is forced to resign for being insufficiently rightwing. Alastair Milne in 1987. Greg Dyke in 2004. Tim Davie in 2025. The great irony is that the BBC was in all cases profoundly biased towards established power. But just not biased enough …

Bury St Edmunds Quakers will lay a wreath of white poppies at the Angel Hill War Memorial on 9 November at 2.30pm. We will remember the loss of military personnel and of civilians: men, women and children. All are welcome to join us in a short period of silent reflection.

Exactly.
It's really not difficult. If you give favours to a donor it's just plain wrong.

It is very common sense. Unfortunately, much of the UK media has a vested interest in encouraging the electorate to think that environmental and climate concerns are all a big scam.
I find it funny how presenters in the UK say:"isn't Green Party meant to be just about the environment." Like it's a difficult concept that environmental justice and social & economic justice go together.
Coming from a Nordic country, this doesn't sound 'radical' at all, just very common sense.

As time removes us from the reality, the suffering, the courage and the futility, the more tasteless and harmful the propaganda becomes.
I recall in the 60s, Remembrance Day was one solemn Sunday morning. That was it.
It was a moving occasion at our local memorial and attended by actual WW1 and WW2 veterans. Unlike the mawkish weeks long competition for the most tasteless display of a poppy that it's become
