Still remembering Shelf-ebration 💭

You all came out to #Boston's More Than Words in December to celebrate queer love and community. There were crafts, a QT Library toast, great speeches, and, of course, a lot of books. Stay tuned in 2026 for even more QT events!

2026 isn't off to a great start, but we at the QT Library are trendsetters and think all of these things should be in for this year. It involves way more books, queer joy, and letting us be who we are without fear.

💭 What are you aspiring to be in 2026?

What's in for 2026: Pride Month all year long except for July, which is Wrath Month. Buying thousands of dollars worth of books. Adding more books by authors from marginalized communities to the T.B.R. shelf. Stitch and bitch sessions. There's also a polaroid of people at a table crafting. What's in for 2026: Opening a pop-up. Existing in three dimensions. Having attainable goals that set you up for success. Reading more good books, not bad books. Reading books where queer characters have a nice time, you know? Queer and trans people being able to live happily and openly WITHOUT FEAR, but written in very large letters. Staying hydrated. A holiday message from all of us to all of you. ❄️
To our queer and trans family. As we head into the holiday season and the world outside darkens both physically and politically, we want to take a moment to remind you that you are loved; that you are deserving of respect, safety, and the right to be whoever you want to be. You’re a baddie; you’re our favorite; you’re a brilliant light in this dark and impossible world. The Q.T. Library stands with you. For the next few weeks, remember to take care of yourselves, spend time in community and around those who love AND support you. Remember to drink water, take some deep breaths, and have compassion for yourself. Treat yourself to a few phone-free hours, maybe curl up with a good book. We love you and we’ll see you in 2026. x.o.x.o all of us at the Q.T. Library.

That's it! 2025 is over. 🥳

While it was a rough one for our community (to say the least), it was a busy one for the QT Library, and we can't help but have a little hope for our future and that of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Relive the highlights with us, and a toast to so much more in 2026!

Text that says, "We made over 1,000 new Instagram friends, bringing us to 5,300+ followers. 222 donors supported us this year. 555 of you subscribed to our newsletter. We gained 91 new volunteers." We hosted 44 programs. 3 author talks, 11 affinity group meetings, 20 book club meetings, 6 in-person events. We started 2 brand new book clubs and a monthly crafting group. We had our very first pride picnic. We launched our BlueSky account (which you should follow) at q.t.library dot org.

A story and update from the QT LIbrary 🌧️🌈
Boston Pride 2023 was a rainstorm. It was one of the QT Library’s first major public-facing events. Our Executive Director, Emily Ann Talley, demonstrated to everyone just what the QT Library stands for: how even in the stormiest of times, we will bring the vibrance and the light. As the QT Library’s Founding Executive Director, co-founder, and Clerk to the Board, Emily’s leadership shaped the organization immensely. That’s why we want to share with our community that Emily has stepped down as the QT Library’s Executive Director and will be moving on to new adventures. The contributions Emily has made cannot be overstated or have enough confetti thrown upon them. They shepherded our organization from a sparkle in the eyes of four people with a dream to legal incorporation, to 501(c)(3) status, and now to a thriving part of Boston’s queer and trans ecosystem. We quite literally wouldn’t be where we are today without their contributions, leadership, and upbeat, inspiring energy. Our community is strong, and we will navigate this transition by leaning on each other, continuing to do the work Emily helped start, and by remembering to do as Emily taught us: always dance through the rain. Bonus: Emily's dog Lady. There are two pics of this black and white dog in Polaroid frames.
