John Steenhuisen needs to sit back down, we don't need to hear claims of how all DA appointees are "succeeding", just deal with the substance. did the man go to the US to do some lobbying without clearance? because that relationship is and has been a tinderbox. others have been fired for this too.

honestly, though this is more of the "everybody standing on one side quietly surveying the scene in confusion" unity rather than a "drunk hug everything in the vicinity" one
South Africans are calling the 49 "refugees" the Voetsekkers, which is a combination to the word Voortrekker (Afrikaaner version of the pioneers) and Voetsek (Afrikaans for "piss-off!").

while I kind of get this take, admitting that people (back in some unspecified time) were willing (or compelled by the lack of visible barriers) to be inconvenienced by another implies that said other party is consciously acting on a desire to inconvenience others
Unpopular opinion: I know it's cool to wear your earbuds and carry a book while pasting a disinterested, don't-talk-to-me expression on your face, but I like to talk to the person sitting beside me on airplanes. I liked it when we were willing to be inconvenienced by strangers.
