We have seen conferences and conference travel get more expensive while our travel funds, especially in the humanities and even social sciences dwindle. Perhaps this is a time to reconsider the purpose of conferences. Socializing and brainstorming in person is very important, but... #AcademicSky

I have two coming up in April, and my partner really doesn't want me to fly. But traveling by train or car would take too long and impact my teaching schedule.
