It’s official: the NYPD’s “gang database” is built on bias, not safety. The Inspector General’s new report proves it.

Rally with us Oct 23, 5PM @ One Police Plaza to demand City Council pass #Intro798. #EraseTheDatabase @legalaidnyc.bsky.social @psjpbc.bsky.social @indivisible.org

And the best piece I've seen yet on what the content of that defined position should be remains this one, by @alexvitale.bsky.social.

Wise advice on NYPD to Zohran from @alexvitale.bsky.social:

DON'T–
❌ Focus on homicide clearance stats
❌ Expand officer headcount
❌ Retry failed reforms (e.g., trainings)

DO–
✅ Reduce NYPD comms
✅ Sentinel Event Reviews
✅ Disband SRG
✅ Abolish gang database
✅ Pick a commish loyal to Z('s agenda)
If he becomes mayor, Zohran Mamdani will have to tackle New York City's biggest beast: the NYPD. @alexvitale.bsky.social has some suggestions for how to do just that.
