New Yorkers get to make history next week. And as with all things on this particular point in history, it's complicated.

@noayachot.bsky.social masterfully presents the particular complexities for Jewish New Yorkers in the excellent long-read:

A tour of the mayoral hopeful’s Jewish outreach reveals an electorate fractured over Israel and grappling with his historic candidacy in radically different ways

That blood-chilling threat you're feeling now? Even small ideological change away from you is threatening, shaping our cardiovascular reapinses, as we find in this Psychophysiology paper led by @feitenglong.bsky.social .

If you weren't sure by now that the Nazi party had taken over the US, Vance's calls to be more welcoming to Europe's Nazi parties should have helped you gain some certainty.

After 16 months of continuous bad news, the absolute evil of this morning's news still managed to shock me: The U.S. president explicitly called for the ethnic cleansing of Gaza, to the obvious delight of Netanyahu, but also of Israel's "opposition" leaders. Pasaran?

Political hope, anyone? When are leaders go fascist, previous supporters of those leaders actually go less fascist.

Fellow social psychologists, I need your help!
Can you recommend an intro Social Psych textbook that

a. was published this decade
b. is _not_ incredibly U.S. focused

Hope is hard to come by these days, but is that strictly a bad thing?
Out now in ERSP: Smadar Cohen-Chen and I review past work on group-based hope to examine when it's good and when it's bad, in feeling and in function. Open access at shorturl.at/xFIS7

10 years after participating in the Lisbon edition, I'm truly excited to attend the EASP summer school again, this time as teacher, alongside @iborinca.bsky.social. Apply by 29.2 for our psych of violent interethnic conflict workshop, or any of the other workshops, all taught by fabulous scholars.
I am super excited to announce that we are hosting the next EASP Summer School in Košice, Slovakia from 8th – 19th July, 2024. We have fantastic teachers teaching fantastic workshops. Check out and spread the word! Let's have a great time together. sites.google.com/view/easpsum...
