Dr Joaquin Mateo was a research fellow @icr.ac.uk interested in making personalised #ProstateCancer treatments.

In 2014, we funded him to see if men with specific DNA mutations responded favourably to a drug called olaparib.

While the NSC has recommended screening only for men with BRCA gene variations, this isn’t the end of the story.

Our ongoing research, including TRANSFORM, will provide the evidence needed to expand screening safely in the future.

Friday’s NSC recommendation is a step toward targeted prostate cancer screening for men with BRCA gene variations.

However, many men at higher risk are being missed.
