Finished listening to this audiobook on my daily walk today and it was great! I found it informative, empowering & inspirational, and I’m leaving the book with some actionable strategies to treat & prevent burnout. One that I’ve been particularly enjoying is gratitude practice. 💕

#psychsky I have an unprecedented amount of recommendation letters to write this fall, many with a Dec 1 due date. But one of my students received this warning from PsyCAS that materials need to be submitted *2 weeks* ahead of the due date so they can be verified. Have others heard of this change?!

I wrote for @psychologytoday.com on how food insecurity harms child development. I’m hoping our leaders can restore SNAP funds moving forward to prevent these harms to our nation’s kids. www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/orig...
Food Insecurity Harms Child Development
Sixteen million US children may lose food benefits this week. Research demonstrates that food insecurity has short-term and long-term effects on children's mental and physical health.

Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.

I’m in Paris for a week! 🇫🇷 My friend & I are eating crêpes, going to museums, shopping & exploring the city. The highlight today was going to the top of the Eiffel Tower. What a beautiful city! 🤩

For years, I’ve struggled with using ruby scripts to export observational coding data from Datavyu. But I am finally getting the hang of it! 🎉 Also I highly recommend having your scripts tell you that you’re amazing - it’s a nice confidence boost. ☺️

Love these! 🤣 Never mind that my collaborators and I have published papers with figures that look like the confidence interval one…😉

In 2022, Gabrielle Strouse & I gratefully received an NIH R15 grant to study grandparent-grandchild interactions over video chat. We've completed our study with 186 triads participating & today is the last day of our grant funding! We'll be presenting and publishing from this dataset for years. 🎉

This is good general advice for applicants to psychology PhD programs, down to a rubric for evaluating statements of purpose, so sharing this more widely!
I will be reviewing applications for the University of Michigan Clinical Psychology doctoral program this fall. If you are interested in applying, here’s some info I prepared for applicants: sites.lsa.umich.edu/aidangcw-lab...

TL; DR version of season 2 of The Retrievals (which is excellent, BTW)…the novel idea that doctors should ✨ believe women about their pain.✨ 🙄😣😳
I haven’t heard women - in my personal circle or patients - say this, and really wasn’t aware intense pain is a problem DURING a c-section, but how horrific for those affected. The Retrievals was phenomenal and I’d expect this will be too. www.nytimes.com/article/seri...
