It's as if Critical Race Theory was correct all along.
Adolf Hitler's “Mein Kampf” is still on U.S. Naval Academy shelves. “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings” and “Memorializing the Holocaust” are not.

An order by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s office led to a purge of books that are critical of racism — but preserved volumes defending white power.

What happened to all of this "free speech"
Eleven foreign students at the University of Texas, El Paso have had their visas cancelled by the Department of Homeland Security. These cancellations are part of the nationwide attack on campus activism and international students studying in the. U.S.

My story for the El Paso Times.
DHS revokes visas for Borderland foreign students, as nationwide crackdown expands
The Trump administrations nationwide crackdown on students has expanded to the Borderland. At least a dozen students at UTEP and EPCC are affected

Trump -- who has one of the most racist presidential agendas in modern US history - is stripping colleges and universities of funding in order to combat racism. This lie needs to be exposed daily.

Among Trump's most serious problems: Inability to think comprehensively. Opposing vaccines is a terrible. Choosing people to serve because they have made antivaccine statements is reckless. There are major policy areas in addition to vaccines. What is Weldon's capacity to serve effectively?
President-elect Donald Trump on Friday announced that Dave Weldon is his choice to serve as director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, the federal government’s top public health agency.

The medical doctor has been a vocal critic of the agency, especially its vaccine program.

Yuck. This will not pass in 2024. Some of it codifies an Executive Order Trump issued in 2020 (no DEI/CRT in federal agencies). This goes extremely far--even preventing offices within agencies that deal with race, gender, SO matters.
I urge everyone to stop talking about Matt Gaetz and the dysfunctional unqualified cabinet nominees and START talking about the Dismantle DEI Act of 2024.

Go beyond the viral videos and read the text of the bill, which PASSED out of the House Oversight Committee

If people make nuanced and fact-based arguments, this shouldn't be a problem. The greatest stumbling block in today's political discourse isn't ideological bubbles or hateful people. It's data-free analysis. And we can "both sides" this one--but more so on the GOP side.

Republicans warn Dems not hold up Trump's nominees. Some of us are old enough to remember Bill Clinton and Obama struggling. Some of them are old enough to have been among the obstructors. Will journalists remember?

So depressing. Trump skipping background checks is:
1. Incompetent
2. Arrogant
3. Ominous
This is a test of basic journalistic skills and journalistic role-morality.

Choosing a DNI who can't pass a background check is
(a) "unconventional"
(b) "surprising"
(c) "a gross violation of American national security that raises questions about the loyalties of both the nominee and the President"
Seems like if nominees for Attorney General and Director of National Intelligence can't withstand an FBI background check, that's a red flag
