A reminder that Feb. 9 is the deadline for nominations for the WCIS exec comm @isanet.bsky.social.

You do *not* need to attend the annual conference to participate in caucus leadership! This is a great way to meet colleagues and contribute to mentorship/awards/professional development. #polisky
📢 ISA Members: The Women's Caucus is now accepting nominations for 5 executive comm positions, including Program Chair/Incoming Chair for 2026-2028. As current program chair/incoming chair, I'd be happy to answer any questions about our work. Join us! @isanet.bsky.social

Data centers are supposedly being pushed all over the country to support consumer use of generative AI... but the majority of US adults don't use gen AI on a regular basis.

Ask whose data is being collected on such a massive scale--and for what purpose.
THREAD: 404 Media has been covering ICE and the technology they've been using to surveil and raid "targets", detain people based on a flawed facial recognition app, and lie about violence on the streets.

They have established itself as an agency that cannot be trusted to live in or present reality.

on the evening of 9/11 i worked in the operations center at the state department helping field incoming calls & cables. ally after ally promised support under the north atlantic charter. trump is shredding the bonds that make that kind of support natural.
FWIW, the one and only time Article 5 has formally been invoked was following 9/11 -- by NATO and on behalf of the United States, without it having to make any request.
Trump: "The big fear I have with NATO is we spend tremendous amounts of money with NATO and I know we'll come to their rescue, but I just really do question whether or not they'll come to ours. Just saying."

US higher education was a crown jewel, generating knowledge, wealth, prestige, and power unrivaled by anyone.

And the US is throwing it away, because Americans elected a govt ideologically opposed to truth, science, merit, and racial/gender equality, preferring to weaken the country to reduce that.
