Law Professor. Advocate. Bar Reformist.
Saint Louis University School of Law.
Past President, Association of Academic Support Educators.
Sitting in the county title office and I overheard this actual conversation:
Stranger 1: Are you here to title a brand new car?
Stranger 2: Yes. I accidentally drove my car into a brick wall.
Stranger 2: Oh my gosh hun! You should buy pre-owned.

I suffer from "reply-all overwhelm syndrome." I will be seeking university accommodations.

Welp, I'm calling it a wrap for this submission cycle. I will withdraw, revise, and resubmit in Spring. I don't know how non-Constitutional scholars survive the fall cycle. Sigh.

We’re a “self regulating profession,” and yet it seems like this system does everything in its power to protect against being held accountable by *checks notes* the people in this profession.

Well, looks like it’s hit the regular news now.

Hey remember that thing about making the profession look good? New York Bar, this isn’t it.
Law grad goes into cardiac arrest during NY bar exam — and test goes on uninterrupted: reports
“That’s a real person who could be dying right in front of us, and we’re still being expected to continue.”

This week: Bar takers in Hawaii were evacuated mid-exam due to weather. The NY Bar Exam was disrupted by a medical crisis. Will examinees whose concentration and performance were affected receive any remedy?
My new article answers this question and explains why. papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers....

🚨One of the most terrifying elements of the Trump budget bill is NOT getting enough attention.

The Bill will make ICE the biggest policing and incarceration agency in the US.

Bigger than the FBI, with more jail space than the Federal Prison Bureau.

It’s a budget for a police state.

Last night, I attended the Mound City Bar Association Scholarship Dinner. This evening not only marked the end of my service as Treasurer for the Association, but it also brought me an unexpected honor: the President's Award for Board service.

The NCBE's role is not to tell law professors what to teach, according to the NCBE. But adaptations will be required. I really hope a lot of doctrinal professors are paying attention.

This is something every new lawyer will do in practice. Unless they are in civil litigation, no? Good for the DAs and PDs. Not so good for a lot of Big Law folks.

10 jurisdictions will give this test in 2026. A fully computer based exam. Should be easy to do those mini PTs on your laptops, folks. Also, we know reading online poses difficulties for many students.

So the current UBE assesses all of this already, according to the NCBE. But competency 2 is new to NextGen.

Of course the MPRE won't be replaced. That's a good money maker for the NCBE.
