I'm so proud to work at a school that nurtures, protects and stands up for all of their students and faculty. My heart is full.

Earthquake with epicenter 1 mile away, my northridge quake ptsd just kicked in. While friends suffer the city of my youth burning, it's week 2 of the worst bronchitis ever, and I found out yesterday that a close friend died. It's the apocalypse before the antichrist takes possession of the country.

I spent new year's eve entering my short stories into writing contests. It feels good.

Grading is done. Let the revelry commence! (Next week, slip back to writer mode and finally finish this book I have been working on).

It's the last week of instruction in the semester. Final essays are due Sunday. Just want to publicly apologize for the mass amounts of grandparents and relatives that are conveniently croaking, as we speak. Papers are still due Sunday. I cannot bend time.

Today, for my birthday, my daughter baked me a cake, waited on me and the dogs while I graded my students' essays. Not a bad birthday at all! (Okay, I might have bought myself a few Black Friday things but, you know, it was on sale! I could not resist temptation).

Was awakened this morning by the sound of a gaggle of turkeys -- the ones that got away.

I tried to breach Costco to get a turkey after I taught my class today. Aborted mission in the parking lot. Then spent an hour in TJ's, buying everything but the turkey (they ran out 30 minutes after opening). Heard something about bird flu. Hmm, perhaps it will be a vegetarian holiday this year.

Man, do I hate finals time. Exhausting.

Four weeks left in the semester before I jump back into full on writer mode. Oh, I have so much to say.
