It took the Nazis one month, three weeks, two days, eight hours, and 40 minutes to dismantle a constitutional republic.

When the fire starts to burn, every good person better be ready to man a post with a bucket of water if you want to stop it from raging out of control.

Friends on Bluesky:
Today I wrote to Starbucks:
Dear Starbucks,
Shame on you for backing off your so-called commitment to equality and diversity. We need courage at this time, not timid compliance.
I have sipped my last Starbucks coffee.
Sincerely,

A note of hope. A friend in my own Washington State informs me that in District 2—Western Snohomish Cy (No. of Seattle) to the Canadian border—Congressman’s Rick Larsen’s town hall, which typically draws 30 to 50 people, drew 13,000 people. Not a typo, 13,000.

I want to report to my Bluesky friends a personal landmark. I have just composed my 1,000th poem. Some finished, some published, some need work. But there you are. A deep bow to the muses.

From Robert Reich: Attempted coup.

My favorite quote of today, (Robert Reich):
Americans don’t abide aristocracy. We were founded in revolt against unaccountable power and wealth. We will not tolerate this barefaced takeover.

The backlash, when it comes, will be stunning.

Hi everybody, I here share my resolve to do one small thing per day for democracy, respect, decency, and the rule of law. I am a writer—my job is to write (poems, etc.). So small. Not to take over my life or mental health. Today a small contribution to Abigail Spanberger, for VA governor.

Simon Rosenberg on the felonious bigot’s election: "A rapist, fraudster, traitor and 34 times felon ….The relentless normalization of his extremism, madness and ugliness, the legacy media’s complicit in reporting on the race not the stakes, was a collective failure of enormous consequence."

Simon Rosenberg’s words on our new president are still apt:
"A rapist, fraudster, traitor and 34 times felon ….The relentless normalization of his extremism, madness and ugliness, the legacy media’s complicit in reporting on the race not the stakes, was a collective failure of enormous consequence.

Hello BlueSky friends, Here is a question. Bluesky is a great alternative so far to the Putin-leaning oligarch Musk's misinformation machine. So far so good. But I would also like to leave the Oligarchic sycophant Zuckerberg’s outlet for misinformation. Alternatives? Thanks for thoughts.

My small idea this AM, gotten from Hopium, I think. I will stop calling trump the T word, or, etc. and instead use accurate descriptors every time. Here’s one I got from Simon Rosenberg (Hopium or his quote);
Trump= rapist, fraudster, traitor & felon, diminished, delusional, and disgusting.
