Great to welcome @preetkgillmp.bsky.social, MP for Edgbaston, to our Birmingham Vincent Drive centre.

Her visit was an opportunity to highlight the incredible work being undertaken by our teams to save lives through blood, organ and tissue donation.

A huge thank you to Preet for her support.

So I want to debunk a few misconceptions:

Including Jews in ethnicity-based monitoring was one of the recommendations I made in Everyday Hate - we can't tackle antisemitism if we don't measure it properly.

We strongly support this Bill, which we believe will go a long way towards addressing statistical aberrances which have arisen through many Jewish people slipping through the cracks in terms of data collection. We thank Preet Kaur Gill MP for bringing this issue to Parliament's attention.
Despite being legally recognised as ethnic groups for over 40 years, public bodies don't collect data on Jewish and Sikh people to monitor inequalities and deliver public services.

It makes our communities invisible to policymakers.

Today I am introducing a Bill to change that.

Despite there being a gene mutation strongly connected with breast cancer in Ashkenazi Jewish women we don’t appear on the ethnic monitoring forms at breast screening. So I strongly support this bill.

I'm astonished this data wasn't collected before: two well-defined and distinctive groups and apparently HMG basically ignored their existence.
