Happy winter birdfeeder season to those who celebrate.

Goldfinches, nuthatches, and chickadees aplenty today.

“…the NAACP affirms the term "Woke" and its historical connection to Black history, Black liberation movements, and social justice.”

Please be sure you know what you are saying.

Reclaiming the Word “Woke” as Part of African American Culture
The NAACP condemns cultural appropriation, misuse of Black idioms, and specific efforts by anti-Black racists to distort and redefine the specific term “Woke.”

Every instinct in my body tells me to hunker down for winter & take care of family, & negative thoughts tell me nothing I was doing, other than mutual aid efforts, mattered, anyway. Yet, every impulse in my soul tells me there is no time to wait, & my guides & ancestors, like Jay, tell me "Go, now!"
I’m ashamed of “woke” white people.

And I’m 1/2-white. Keep that in mind.

Y’all could be doing SO much.

You could end this! There are enough of you to end this! Plenty!

Just actually do it. Go now! Seriously.

Frozen pond in the frozen woods. Hard to explain how cold the winter has been. More than halfway through our firewood; have had to routinely service tractor fuel lines from freezing; hand from where I smushed it is vibrating in numb pain; hardly want to go outside 🥶 but, it's beautilly magical 💙

Went out to take some photos of the ice storm's beauty, and quickly retreated back under a roof. Branches and trees coming down all around. Hope everyone is in a safe, warm, dry place 🙏

There are aspects of homesteading that push the sympathetic soul to the brink of the irreconcilable, like when the mind tries to hold the paradoxical ideas of compassion for all living beings, and "we are all food," simultaneously. There are days I wish to run away.

Getting down towards the end of my "I need to figure out what to do with these" pile. They are just consuming space, gathering dust, some getting moldy 😔 Nowhere to hang them or store them. They meant so much to me in creating them & have meant so much to me over the years. Hard to feed to the 🔥

I think about this a lot. I worry about this a lot.
The internet has supercharged the radicalization process; what used to take years, now takes months.

And Republicans know exactly how to capitalize on this relatively new algorithm-based era. Democrats do not.

Just discovered a painting that really hit me, especially here in the Christmas season. For those not Christian, after Christ was born, Mary and Joseph had to flee to Egypt to protect their baby from political persecution.

I will never stop combating racism.

It’s not something I act out on occasion.

It’s all day, everyday. It’s part of my life.

I’m 1/2-white and receive tons of unearned benefits b/c of racism and colorism.

I have a moral and practical duty to combat the force that bestows these racist benefits.
