In 3 days, the number of measles cases in a highly unvaccinated area of Texas has doubled. There are now 48 cases, all of whom are unvaccinated, and 13 of whom have been hospitalized so far, for a hospitalization rate of 27%. This is huge figure in epidemiology. This outbreak will keep spreading.

I'm nervous, to be honest. I keep waiting for some kind of rallying sign, somebody indicating that they're going to fight this all in court. Somebody in Congress to filibuster, to get on every news channel and social media platform, every night, and denounce this all an illegal power grab
i will say that we have never experienced anything like an administration trying to essentially freeze the activities of the entire federal government while making a series of illegal power grabs. genuinely unclear to me what kind of response, if any, these guys are generating against them

Occasional reminder that there’s no, “it’s too late, its over” for anthropogenic climate change. Every molecule of CO2 that doesn’t go into the atmosphere makes a difference. Preventing 0.1 degree of warming makes a difference. Every bit of climate resilience we build together makes a difference.

Monday was the 20th anniversary of my mom’s death. She died unexpectedly at 47 from heart disease; I was 24. I didn’t become a (birth) mom until about 10 years ago, and her absence has felt the heaviest this last decade.

In an effort to avoid current events I have gotten sucked into the Menendez brothers new show & documentary & I must say, I’m enthralled. I was 10 when they killed their parents, they were a household name throughout my teen; but had no idea about the abuse allegations. Fascinating & heartbreaking.
