I don't know how these fake ass "polyglots" on youtube "maintain" more than a couple languages at the pitifully low level they do. Must be a Sisyphean task. You need to put in a ton of work to make progress in even one language and that's assuming you have a decent level already

it's common to talk abt the huge fraction of total human lives that were lived in the 1900s. wouldn't man-years be a better metric for comparing historical periods than absolute years? obv historical demographic data is v sketchy, but olivia and i have attempted to periodize history this way
