Retired teacher. I am excited to join the school board. Never ran for anything. I was taught how to run by a Fr in college active in politics (Dem). He knew his stuff and I followed the homework. Knocking on doors was fun and rewarding.

Wheat today $4.62. 40 years ago I was excited when wheat rose to $5. However, green wheat waving is mesmerizingly beautiful.

Just looking at grains tank again. The market was up a few days ago, but the uncertainty gives such wild swings. And a picture of an iris just for tranquility.

I workout in the early morning- 2 mile walk, weights my PT mapped out for me. But…nothing is as exhausting as weeding, tilling, and planting. I need a beer.

For those who are interested in the effect of tariffs war on farmers this episode is telling. Put aside the “the farmers deserve it”. It is rural people that need to be won over and wishing us harm will not win votes.

This article encompasses this farmer’s fears. I am in the 22% that read the ag section of 2025. We will not recover our markets even if tariffs are removed. Wheat will be cut in June and soybeans will be ready in the fall. Then the real pain will begin.
Fields of Frustration
As tariffs uncertainty bites, rural America starts rethinking its loyalty to Trump.

This is an obvious point, but cannot overstated. There is an enormous difference between deporting someone - where they get off a plane as a free citizen in their home country AND FUNNELING THEM INTO A BRUTAL PRISON FROM WHICH THEY HAVE NO CHANCE OF EVER EMERGING!!!

This man was giddy at the Fall Farm Bureau dinner after Trump was elected. My husband and I just shook our heads. I would enjoy the moment of “I told you so, you idiot.” But I am in the same damn sinking boat. 🤬Trump.

Today wheat is down -15 cents, soybeans are down -33cents. This is what we can expect from a president that enjoys others pain. And his list of pain inducing tariffs are long. God help the people bc Trump will not.

A bit of levity. My grandson, age 5, asked his dad, “Dod you think my arm is longer or your arm is longer.” They compared and dad’s arm is longer. lol. Grandson said, “ Then would you reach under the couch and get my ball?” 😂😂

My Kansas Senator who lives in Florida. He ran away. His town hall was in western KS in a solid red community. They weren’t having any of his bull. He only stayed less than 15 minutes.
NEW: Senator Marshall (R-KS) RUNS AWAY, fleeing his own town hall after being asked about DOGE firing Veterans. MAKE HIM GO VIRAL.

A complete lack of decorum. A fucking embarrassment for the United States. Never in my life has America sided with Russia. And now we are the country that others shun. I cannot fathom what will
Be left of our country in 4 years.
Oh my God.

Donald Trump and JD Vance are attacking Zelensky in the Oval Office.

This is a complete fucking embarrassment.

The Trump voters knew what they were voting for. They didn’t vote against their interests, they wanted what they voted for. Now they are the “others” and are going WTF🤷‍♀️. Few are that stupid, they wanted Trump’s world.

Jess Piper always nails it. My husband and I do farm but it is our communities that are being decimated- public school, no daycare, jobs, limited health care, care for the elderly… not unlike the urban areas. Dems address health, economy, support democracy.

Feb 1st: tariff Day. 25% on Mexico and Canada. 🤬 And now I expect wheat prices to plummet bc of retaliatory tariffs. Mexico is one of the highest buyers of USA wheat. They will seek other sources, like China did with soybeans, and may not return in full to American wheat.🤬 I DID NOT VOTE Trump.
