I worked out I lost almost a quarter of the year last year to being unwell with chest infections and the like 🤦 almost four months total of just being sick

Keep your fingers crossed for me that my reformulated asthma plan keeps my winter health under control this year

Following from our announcement that Quindrie Press will be closing at the end of 2026, I want to make people aware that in Spring 2026 we will be opening a one-off comic fund for UK creators. More details will be released next year.

Ive been so disgusted with the way the higher-ups at Dundee Uni have been decimating courses. All my love and support to the staff, and the students whose degrees and futures will be impacted by these changes.

@evegwood.com has done incredible work over the last few years with Quindrie, and it’s such a shame that they’re having to close it
Thanks to Quindrie I have an Ignatz nomination for a piece of work I’m really proud of

Sometimes it’s nice to look back and remember that you used to have to watch Naruto in ten minute increments in 240p Vimeo uploads with questionable (but hugely appreciated) fan translations
The ease with which you can watch anime now is so good

Really good thread!
And I would add that you don’t need to put on something the size of Sequential!
You never know what the space you create will lead to, and who will find it as an entry point x
I had a really good chat with @chrislaumanson.bsky.social and @tomhumberstone.com at TAGS Festival last weekend about what we, the independent comic community, can do to push our scene forward. A lot of what we discussed is UK- or world-wide rather than just pertinent to Scotland but I'll recap:

I ate half a slice of gouda and now I’m experiencing The Agonies

I used to have an office job, but I’m too disabled for that now and am very lucky that my partner has a good job that pays decently
Ironically if I didn’t have the art as a skill to fall back on I wouldn’t really have any way of making money now that I can’t do a traditional job 🤦
Many full time creatives have “invisible safety nets” like bread-winning partners, trust funds, external support, etc. No shame on anyone, but it creates a false vision of success. The cost of going to cons alone on top of hoping to eat as a freelancer are untenable, IMO.
When people hear that I'm returning to part time work they often ask "are things not going well with your art?"

The problem really is things are going well, but the world is so unstable that I long for some consistency and income that I don't have to pay quarterly taxes on
