Initially a human,she had aspirations to pursue fashion designing as a profession.This was met with little traction,and her wealth was lax.She pursued a pescatarian diet,not managing it responsibly.This led to fatal mercury poisoning.Her symptoms such as numb digits,tremors,and nausea were harsh, but she didn’t have the funds to save her life; She needed more time.She received an opportunity for work for a fashion agency,and she visited an entity who offered a contract that held otherworldly perks—should she choose to work for them,her symptoms would be paused while under their company name.Once she completed all goals,she’d be free from this job,and the poisoning would be gone perpetually.This wasn’t paid,but it granted the immediate solutions needed,and she hastily signed into the partnership.Upon this,it was revealed the manager was actually an undersea entity,and while shocked,she transformed into a merfolk.The true price of this partnership became clear;she would need to fashion clothing that would impress the reincarnations of every marine creature she ever ate (the fact she didn’t have anyone to model wasn’t her managers problem;she’d need to model herself);they would be spread out in clusters of audiences depending on their original geographical environment,so she’d need to visit different oceanic ecosystems to host her showings. Should she fail to impress everyone in one area, she couldn’t to move on to the next until she gained the respect of every remaining attendee in the next show.Her manager created a metallic swordfish from all the mercury removed from her system to guard and supervise her. Should she be out of line (ex:arguing with audience member) it will penalize through piercing her—injecting mercury; this will cause her to experience sickness for about a day. Should she quit entirely,this swordfish will end her.Each day,she clocks into work through contact with water (causing transformation) and clocks out by coming ashore (becoming human again).
