"The past, were I to type it up, would look like a disaster, but regardless of how it ended we all had many good days."--Tom Lake/Ann Patchett.
I have a thing for shower curtains & linens. When we lived in OKC about 20 years ago, we had a dinky bathroom with lovely vintage turquoise tile. As luck would have it, I had brown towels from one of the two bathrooms in our previous apt, & I found this curtain, which I adored.

The ratio for the law of inverse proportions seems to be that for every two hours I stay awake at night where I normally would be in bed, I only sleep one extra hour in the morning.

When someone makes you hungry way too late & you pull that last black bean ramen out of the pantry, the pork loin slices from the freezer...

Yes. Got out of bed for this.

Talking about food "around the corner" in the neighborhood, there are so many things I miss.

Sacramento. Early 90s. Lap cheong from a corner market, fried, with leftover rice & eggs, for breakfast. Steamed bao & pulling off the paper stuck to the bottom. Perfectly wrapped steamed sticky rice.

Last Samurai Standing.

Without giving too much away, in the first one, I see this gorgeous man with long grey hair.

How do I pick them?

CHALLENGES FOR DISABLED FOLKS:

Often, it gets hectic during the holidays.
Many of us forget that there are folks with disabilities, some of which are hidden.
Please be kind and respectful…

I like this U.K. bumper sticker:
“I don’t look disabled?
You don’t look like a twat.
But there you go.”

My friend just got his birthday present I picked for him & seemed to like it, as he likes artwork by humans.

This is where I got it.

Thanks, @mickeybiz.bsky.social !

Super G Mart.

One of our very favorite places to shop when we lived in the area & made a special trip to the Pineville location when it newly opened to support it bc it was so difficult to source ingredients in our area.

Seriously, F-U shit.
From the manager of the Super G store, where smiling and waving agents grabbed a boy, 15. (Looks like Bovino was on the scene)

Learned far too much detail about Lemur sexual habits from my daughter, including the fact that some Lemurs vaginal openings are closed for most of the time except a short fertile window of just a few hours each year.

Continuing with my reflection of horses, in Horses Graze by Gwendolyn Brooks there is a fierce contentment, an invitation into a moment of stillness, a longing for simplicity and peace.

My sisters & I are all fond of a good scent. My maternal gma, of depression era, wore Emeraude (or Shalimar) & my mom preferred earthier, amberier ones, covering heavy smoking with Timeless or musk in the 80s.

We get a bit more spendy, my little sister, gifting me the ones I won't get, myself &

Offer to give someone close to you a pedicure for Christmas or just bc if you both feel comfy with it, especially if they are unable to. Foot care is health care & it is amazing how quickly toenails grow.

People who have diabetes or other conditions need to pay special attention to their feet.

Having run the morning errands, coming back to an apt that smells of laundry, drying, I think the kindest thing I can do for myself is log off & crochet, & perhaps, take a nap.

Have the best day you can, too!

Rolled past Ryan's Saloon a few minutes ago. This was a much larger pic, but I cropped out the people who were actually painting over the large mural on the side of the building.

I'm not sure how long it had been there. It has recently been sold & will be undergoing changes. Still the history. 😢

Texting with a friend yesterday who mentioned both Hemingway & Murakami had written books titled Men Without Women, who said there should probably be more books on this subject & perhaps I should write one.

Hmmm. Wonder if there has been a paper comparing & contrasting the two books.

The morning clouds have lifting, but someone in the neighborhood has decided that chainsaws are necessary before 9 am on a Saturday morning.

Peaceful coffee time is over & my other, more literary post will wait.

Alice Wong. i could literally teach an entire semester of philosophy of technology & disability through a lens of just her. You should all go spend time with her work. Her essays, podcasts, TV appearances, books, all of it; it is all so good.

Good night Alice. Rest in power, pending justice & peace

If you normally go to bed at a time & then also wake at a certain time, but then go to bed later, you might have noticed there is not an equal proportion of hours you then sleep later, in response. You miss a couple.

It's Caturday. A photo from my memories of Jessica, in full maternal mode, cleaning the ear of a stuffed bunny.

She was as sweet as she was evil, that one. Definitely the iron kitty wrapped in softest fur.
